It was another win for the Maple River/United South Central Longhorns wrestling team when they traveled to take on the New Richland-Hartland-Ellendale-Geneva Panthers on Thursday, Dec. 7.

The Longhorns got a 45 to 30 win over the Panthers.

Once again Noah Gonzalez got things going for MR/USC with a pin over Charles Tufte at 107 pounds. Bebo Getchell added to the Longhorns’ score with a pin of Dakota Schlaak at 114, and Jace Ignaszewski also won by fall at 121 over Mason Reeder.

MR/USC was off to an 18-0 start.

Eric Ridler of the Longhorns lost by a fall at 127 pounds to Seth Staloch, but Isaiah Gonzalez won by a fall over Parker Bunn at 133. Braxton Simon also won by a fall at 139 over Deven Parpart, as did Wyatt Walters at 145 over Noah Weller.

Now it was 36-6. But NRHEG won the next two matches. MR/USC’s Garrett Bollman lost a 9-1 major decision to Aidan Schlaak at 145 pounds and Kolt Bullerman lost by a 10-0 major decision to Harbor Cromwell and the score was 36-14.

Byron Getchell won a 7-3 decision over Ryan Schlaak at 172 pounds but Gavin Bird lost by a fall at 189 to the Panthers’ George Roesler and Max Fuller lost by a 10-2 major decision to Cole Hutchens at 215.

With the score 39-24 with one match left, Dizel Butler got a fall at 285 pounds over Jace Ihrke to make the final 45-24 in favor of the Longhorns.

MR/USC’s next meet was scheduled to be the next day, on Saturday, Dec. 9, at Chanhassen.
