The BEA gymnastics team celebrated its first win of the season on Tuesday, Jan. 16, when they scored a 126.727 to the St. James Saints’ 101.150.

“We are dealing with a couple of injuries right now…but we were still able to score a 126.725, which is our second highest score of the season,” head coach Rachel Cole reported.

The Bucs shone, in particular, on vault and beam.

On vault, BEA scored a 33.7, and Tailor Douglas’s 8.675-scoring leap took first place. Addison Armstrong placed second with an 8.55, and Sidney Eitzmann came in third with an 8.35, her personal best score.

Lizzy Uecker’s vault earned an 8.125, and Lauren Survis landed a 7.9.

The Bucs also did well on floor, scoring a cumulative 32.175.

“The girls had a great night on floor – everyone hit their passes and had clean routines,” Cole said.

Armstrong’s routine took first place with a score of 9.05, while Uecker took second place with an 8.125. Taylynn Amundson and Kailey Boettcher tied for third with matching scores of 7.5, and Survis earned a 7.125.

BEA swung a 29.675 on bars.

“Bars scores seemed a little lower than we were expecting, but the girls performed well. Lauren’s routine had a skill upgrade from the last meet and she hit her routine perfectly,” Cole said.

Survis’s new routine earned her a 7.1, and third place. Armstrong took first place with an 8.15, and Douglas took second with a 7.725.

Natalie Griffey’s routine earned a 6.7, and Uecker’s routine earned a 6.6.

Finally, the Bucs scored a cumulative 31.175 on beam.

“Beam was pretty solid for us – we only counted three falls,” Cole explained. “Kailey Boettcher had a stuck routine for the second meet in a row, getting her personal best beam score of the season. Tailor had a solid, clean routine as well, counting just one fall. Addison finished us off with another stuck routine.”

Armstrong landed first place with her routine, which earned an 8.75. Douglas’s routine was good for a 7.85 and second place, while Boettcher’s routine garnered a 7.625 and third place.

Survis tallied a 6.95, and Uecker scored a 6.625.

Armstrong, Uecker and Survis took first, second and third place in the all-around, respectively, with scores of 34.5, 29.475 and 29.075.

The Bucs are back for a meet against Windom on Friday, Jan 26. They’re slated to face Worthington the following Tuesday, Jan. 30.
