Bucs run in second meet of season
The Blue Earth Area track teams were back on the campus of Minnesota State – Mankato on Thursday, March 28, for their second indoor meet of the season. As it was spring break for BEA, the Bucs did not have their full squad at the meet.
Boys Results
Mankato East had the high score with 83.5 points, Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton had 35.5 and BEA finished with 30.
The boys 4 x 200-meter relay team finished in first place with a time of 1:47. Members of the relay team were Isaac Anderson, Hayden Prestegard, Branson Hauskins and Tristan Hanson.
Prestegard, Pablo Ozuna, Marcus Eckles and Oliver Ankeny joined forces to place second in the medley relay with a time of 4:58.16.
Eckles had a third-place finish in the 60-meter high hurdles with a time of 9.95.
The Bucs had two boys finish in the top three spots in the 200-meter dash. Hanson was first in 25.7 and Hauskins was third in 26.13.
Hanson continued his good day when he finished first in the 400-meter dash with a time of 57.
In the high jump, Anderson cleared the bar at 5-8 to take second place and Hauskins took fourth place with a height of 5-2.
Eckles had a leap of 18-1.5 to place third in the long jump. Hauskins’s mark of 16-8 put him in fourth place.
Prestegard brought home a fourth-place finish in the triple jump with a mark of 33-8.5.
Girls Results
Mankato East came out on top in the girls meet with 94 points, Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton tallied 32 and BEA had 23.
The Bucs’ medley team of Kyannah Brandt, Iree McKay, Natalie Griffey and Madie Redepenning had a time of 5:31 to finish in second place.
Grace Schavey, Ruby Allis, Elliana Moore and Addison Smith finished in third place in the 4 x 200-meter relay with a time of 2:08.81.
Autumn Gordon had a time of 8.48 to finish third in the 60-meter dash while Addison Smith’s time of 8.88 put her in fourth place.
Aubrey Woodwick ran to a second-place finish in the 1600-meter run with a time of 6:26. She also finished fourth in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:53.
In the 60-meter high hurdles, Brandt was third in 12:07 and Redepenning was fifth in 12.62.
Brandt also competed in the 200-meter dash where her time of 29.63 put her in fourth place, right ahead of Gordon who finished fifth in 30.06.
Gordon’s heave of 30-10 in the shot put was good for fourth place.
Smith placed second and Gordon took third in the high jump. Smith cleared the bar at 4-6 and Gordon cleared 4-4.
Griffey was third in the long jump at 11-7.5 while Abbey Lorenz and Allis tied for fourth at 11-6.5.
Lorenz covered a distance of 24-2.5 to place fourth in the triple jump.
