BEA girls and boys defeat MCW in golf

The Blue Earth Area Buccaneers girls golf team broke 200 as a team for the second consecutive meet and downed the Martin County West Mavericks 195-304 in action at Minn-Iowa Golf Course on Tuesday, April 9. The Bucs swept the top five spots.
BEA was led by senior Payten Gudahl who took medalist honors with a round of 42.
Gudahl had a birdie on hole No. 8 and parred four holes to end up five-over-par for the day.
Katelyn Storbeck finished two shots behind Gudahl with a 44 which put her in second place for the day.
Storbeck’s round included two pars.
Rylan Storbeck finished in third place in the meet with a 52 and one par.
Finishing fourth was McKinley Hanson with a 57 and Madison Ehrich was fifth with a 59.
The girls were back in action on Friday, April 12, when they hosted Maple River at Riverside Town and Country Club located north of Blue Earth.
Boys Results
The Blue Earth Area boys golf team picked up their first win of the young season when they defeated the Martin County West Mavericks 167-175 at the Minn-Iowa Golf Course on Tuesday, April 9.
Hunter Schmidt of MCW was the medalist for the meet with a par round of 36.
Leading the way for the Bucs was freshman Cole Becker. Becker’s score of 39 put him in second place overall. His round included six pars.
Finishing third overall and second for the Bucs was Eli Blagg with a score of 41.
Blagg, a junior, had one birdie and three pars during the meet.
Fellow junior Jackson Blondin carded a 42 to finish fourth overall and third for BEA.
Blondin finished his round with four pars.
Kale Larson and Knox Larson of the Mavericks each shot a 43 to tie for fifth place at the meet.
Senior Max Loge recorded the fourth and final score used by the Bucs. Loge had three pars and carded a 45 to finish in seventh place overall.
BEA squared off against Maple River at Riverside Town and Country Club on Friday, April 12. Results for both the girls’ and boys’ meets will be in next week’s edition of the Faribault County Register.
