Noah Dahl started on the mound for BEA when they played New Richland-Hartland-Ellendale-Geneva on April 9. Dahl pitched five and two thirds innings and gave up three runs, none of them earned. The Panthers rallied to defeat the Bucs 7-6.

For the second time in two games, the Blue Earth Area baseball team lost the game in the final inning of play.

BEA trailed the New Richland-Hartland-Ellendale-Geneva Panthers 3-0 heading into the bottom of the sixth inning but rallied for three runs to tie the game at 3-3.

Unfortunately, the Panthers spoiled the Bucs’ home opener on April 9 when they scored one run in the top of the seventh to take a 4-3 lead over the Maroon and Gold. NRHEG then held BEA scoreless in the bottom of the seventh to go home with the 4-3 victory.

Noah Dahl started on the mound for the Bucs and was charged with three runs, none of which were earned. During his five and two thirds innings of work, Dahl allowed two hits, struck out six batters and walked four.

Caleb Langager came in to relieve Dahl in the top of the sixth inning and recorded the final out of the inning. He was charged with the loss when the Panthers scored the winning run in the top of the seventh inning. Langager threw one and one third innings and gave up one earned run on one hit. He struck out two batters and walked one.

The BEA bats were silent until the bottom of the sixth inning. Taylor Davids led off that inning with a single to left and scored on a line drive triple off the bat of Peyton O’Hara.

A sacrifice fly by Dahl plated O’Hara and cut the Panthers’ lead to 3-2.

Branson Hauskins walked and advanced to second base on a sacrifice bunt by Carter Rosenau. Hauskins moved to third base on a passed ball and Kaden Ackerman walked to put runners at the corners. Another walk, this time to Hayden Vereide, loaded the bases with two outs.

The NRHEG pitcher continued to struggle throwing strikes and walked Langager to force in Hauskins with the tying run.

The Panthers scored what proved to be the winning run in the top of the seventh inning. A walk, a stolen base and a run-scoring single with two outs gave the Panthers the run they needed for the 4-3 victory.

BEA played host to Fairmont on Thursday,. April 11. Look for the results of that contest in next week’s edition of the Faribault County Register.

LCWM 7, BEA 6

The Blue Earth Area Buccaneer baseball team suffered a heart-breaking loss in their opening game of the season at Lake Crystal-Wellcome Memorial.

Leading 6-2 heading into the bottom of the seventh inning, the Bucs surrendered five runs to the Knights and lost 7-6.

A two-out, bases-clearing double by the Knights was the big hit that sent the Bucs home with a 0-1 record.

“It was a tough way to lose the game,” BEA coach Paul Nienaber said. “We just have to bounce back the next time we play.”

BEA outhit LCWM seven to three but the Bucs committed four errors to only two for the Knights.

LCWM scored once in the bottom of the second inning to take a 1-0 lead.

The Bucs tied the game in the top of the fourth inning when Taylor Davids walked and went to third on a double by Peyton O’Hara. Davids scored on a ground out by Noah Dahl.

BEA took a 2-1 lead in the top of the fifth inning when Davids singled home Brayden Rhey, who had walked and advanced to second base on a fielder’s choice.

The Knights scored one run in the bottom of the sixth inning to tie the game at 2-2.

The Bucs pushed four runs across home plate in the top of the seventh inning to go on top over the Knights 6-2.

Caleb Langager’s single was follow by walks to Matthew Klabunde and Davids to load the bases. O’Hara connected for his second double of the day to drive in all three base runners and give BEA a 5-2 lead. O’Hara eventually scored on a wild pitch to give the Maroon and Gold a 6-2 lead before the Knights rallied to win the game by scoring five runs in the bottom of the inning.

Dahl took the loss in relief of Davids. Dahl gave up five runs, one earned, on one hit. He walked four batters and did not have any strikeouts.

Davids pitched six innings. He allowed two runs, zero earned, on two hits. He struck out 12 batters and walked three.

O’Hara was the leading hitter for BEA with two doubles and three runs batted in. Langager, Davids, Dahl, Carter Rosenau and Kaden Ackerman each had one hit for the Bucs.
