Bucs host BEA Invitational Track Meet

Grandgenett wins the 100 and 400, Hauskins is first in high jump

The 2024 Buc Invite was held on Friday, April 12, at Wilson Field in Blue Earth.

Six teams participated in the meet. In addition to host Blue Earth Area, the other teams were Fairmont, Maple River, St. James Area, Sibley East and United South Central/Alden Conger.

Boys Results

Fairmont finished on top in the boys’ standings with 374.5 points followed by runner-up St. James Area with 286. Sibley East was in the third spot with 267.5 points, Maple River was fourth with 216.5, BEA was fifth with 207 and USC/AC was sixth with 182.5

Jacob Grandgenett continues to enjoy a stellar season with two first-place finishes in the running events.

Grandgenett crossed the finish line in 11.4 seconds in the 100-meter dash to take first place and he also won the 400-meter dash with a time of 53.1.

The Bucs also did well in the high jump with Branson Hauskins finishing in first place with a jump of 5-9 and Isaac Anderson taking second place at the same height. Hauskins was awarded first place because he had fewer misses.

BEA had three of the top four performances in the long jump. Gage Barker finished in second place with a leap of 17-9, Caden Juba was third with a mark of 17-6.25 and Branson Hauskins finished fourth with a mark of 17-1.5

Marcus Eckles placed fifth in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 48.1.

The 4×100-meter relay team of Barker, Juba, Hauskins and Tristen Hanson came in fourth with a time of 48.4.

Barker, Juba, Hanson and Grandgenett took second in the 4×200-meter relay with a time of 1:38.3.

Girls Results

Fairmont also won the girl’s meet with a score of 371 points. They were followed by Sibley East in second place with 323 points, St. James Area in third with 256, BEA in fourth with 246.5, USC/AC in fifth with 205.4 and Maple River in sixth with 175.

In the running events, Addison Armstrong finished second in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:04.4.

Aubrey Woodwick ran to a fifth-place finish in the 3200 meter run with a time of 13:55.6.

The 4×200-meter relay team of Kyannah Brandt, Kate Armon, Tailor Douglas and Addison Armstrong combined their talents to take second place with a time of 1:58.5.

BEA was fourth in the 4×400-meter relay with a time of 4:48.4. Members of the team were Sidney Eitzmann, Woodwick, Caitlin Eitzmann and Douglas.

Also finishing fourth was the 4×800-meter relay team of Caitlin Eitzmann, Natalie Griffey, Abby Lorenz and Leah Becker. Their time was 12:36.3.

The 1600-meter shuttle medley relay team of Brandt, Douglas, Armstrong and Sidney Eitzmann finished in third place with a time of 4:49.1.

Chloe Groe heaved the shot put 32 feet to finish in fourth place. Groe won the discus competition with a throw of 110-10.

Sara Dohm was third in the high jump. She cleared the bar at a height of 4-5.

Armstrong was second in the pole vault with a height of 9-7. Douglas finished third with a height of 8-1.

Sidney Eitzmann’s leap of 12-9 was good for fourth place in the long jump and Dohm placed second in the triple jump with a distance of 29-8.
