Anderson no-hits the Triton Cobras
Rebels also down GHEC, but lose to the Randolph Rockets
Behind a perfect no-hitter game by their star pitcher, Mariah Anderson, the United South Central Rebels softball team shut out the Triton Cobras at home on Tuesday, April 23.
The Rebels won 7-0 in the game played at Thompson Field in Wells.
USC had a barrage of 10 hits at the plate, including triples by Brylee Neubauer and Kendall Harpestad and doubles by Anderson and Hannah Niebuhr and Taylor Schroeder.
Harpestad and Anderson each had two hits in the game, while Neubauer, Niebuhr, Schroeder, Olivia Bungum, Alivia Bruegger and Carissa Hanson had one hit each.
USC also had six batters get on first via a base on balls.
The Rebels scored two runs in the third inning and another five in the sixth. They could have scored more runs as they ended up stranding 10 runners on the bases during the game.
Anderson’s numbers were no runs, no hits, no walks and she struck out 16 Triton batters.
Next up for the Rebels was a game that was scheduled for Thursday, April 25 against Waterville-Elysian-Morristown. Details on that game will be in the next Faribault County Register.
This week the team plays at Faribault Bethlehem Academy on Monday, April 29, and hosts Blooming Prairie on Thursday, May 2.
USC 20, GHEC 0
The United South Central girls softball team blitzed the Granada-Huntley-East Chain/Truman team, on Friday, April 19, winning the game 20-0.
The Rebels scored six runs in the first inning, three in the second, two in the third and nine in the fourth.
The Rebels outhit the Jaguars 12-0. Olivia Bungum, Lily Lutteke and Taylor Schroeder each had two hits, while Mariah Anderson, Carissa Hanson, Ivy O’Rourke, Brylee Neubauer, Juliana Clore and Alyssa Winkle all had one hit each.
The Rebels also had five players reach base by being hit by a pitch, and six players who stole a base during the game.
Anderson pitched three innings and allowed no runs or hits or walks and struck out seven batters. Brielle Obermeyer pitched one inning and allowed one hit, two walks and struck out two batters.
Randolph 2, USC 0
The USC Rebels lost a close 2-0 heart-breaker to the Randolph Rockets on Thursday, April 18.
USC’s Mariah Anderson pitched all six innings, giving up the two runs on four hits, walking two and striking out 14 batters.
Randolph pitcher Carter Raymond also struck out 14 Rebel batters and issued only one base on balls.
The Rockets scored one run in the third inning and another in the fifth inning to gain the win.
Olivia Bungum and Lily Lutteke had the two Rebel hits in the game.
