Rebels can’t hold lead against Cobras

Despite USC’s 11 stolen bases, Triton rallies for 7-4 victory

The United South Central Rebels baseball team lost 7-4 to the Triton Cobras on Monday, April 22.

The Rebels jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning. However, the Cobras came back with three runs in the bottom of the first for a 3-2 lead.

The Rebels scored a run in the second inning to tie it at 3-3, then scored another run in the third to go up 4-3.

Neither team scored in the fourth, but Triton scored three in the bottom of the fifth and one more in the bottom of the sixth to take the 7-4 victory,

USC was outhit 8-6 in the game. Avery Crawford and Mitch Meyer each had two hits, and Byron Getchell and Zayden Schott had one each.

The Rebels had 11 stolen bases in the game.

Aiden Crabtree pitched five innings and gave up seven runs on six hits, issued four walks and struck out three. Mason Haugh pitched one inning and gave up no runs, two hits, no walks and had two strike outs.

Next up for the Rebels was a game versus Waterville-Elysian-Morristown scheduled for Thursday, April 25. This week they host Lyle-Pacelli on Monday, April 29, play at Blooming Prairie on Thursday, May 2, and host the St. Clair Cyclones on Friday, May 3.

Goodhue 10, USC 0

The United South Central Rebels’ baseball team outhit the Wildcats of Goodhue by 8 to 7.

But at the end of the game, which was played on Friday, April 19, the Rebels had lost 10-0 to the Wildcats.

Goodhue scored seven points in the first inning, and one each in the second, fourth and fifth innings.

The Rebels got two hits from Seth Kayser, Mitch Haugh and Aiden Crabtree, and one hit each from Kolt Bullerman and Byron Getchell. But, USC could not turn those hits into runs.

The Rebels’ Riley Stevermer pitched three innings and gave up nine runs on five hits, including a double and a home run. He walked five batters and struck out five. Meyer pitched two innings and gave up one run on two hits, walked two and struck out one.

Randolph 10, USC 2

The United South Central Rebels took an early lead in their game against the Randolph Rockets on Thursday, April 18, when they scored two runs in the bottom of the first inning.

But, it would be the only runs they would score in the game. The lead would last until the top of the third inning when Randolph scored three runs for a 3-2 lead.

The Rockets would score another three runs in the fourth inning, one in the fifth, two in the sixth and one last run in the seventh.

Randolph had 10 hits to USC’s three. Riley Stevermer and Drew Bullerman each had a hit, and Aiden Crabtree had a double.

Crabtree pitched four innings and gave up six runs on three hits, walked eight and struck out one. Kolt Bullerman came in and pitched two and two thirds innings and gave up four runs on seven hits, walked four and struck out two. Mitch Haugh came in and pitched a third of an inning and gave up no hits or runs, walks or strike outs.
