Addison Armstrong signed a letter to attend UW – Eau Claire on April 30.

Blue Earth Area senior Addison Armstrong made it official on Tuesday, April 30 by signing papers to attend the University of Wisconsin – Eau Claire, beginning this fall.

The three-sport athlete who competed in tennis, gymnastics and track at the high school level will be continuing her track career for the BluGolds.

“I will concentrate on pole vault in college,” Armstrong, who finished fourth in the pole vault at the 2023 Class A State Track Meet, says. “I had one college contact me about playing tennis, but that isn’t where my heart is.”

Armstrong shares she also considered two other Wisconsin schools, UW – LaCrosse and UW – River Falls, along with Augustana in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, before choosing Eau Claire.

“I really like the campus itself, the atmosphere and the vibe I got from the coaches,” Armstrong comments. “Plus, they had the program I was interested in.”

Armstrong will major in rehabilitation sciences while at UW – Eau Claire.

“I will use my degree to seek employment in the physical therapy field,” she says. “It is something I have always been interested in.”

Armstrong will go from participating in track for a three to four month period to being active in track all year round.

“In college, there is an indoor season along with an outdoor season,” she notes. “I will be training throughout the whole year.”

Armstrong will find plenty of familiar faces on campus when she begins her college courses this coming fall since there are many former BEA students attending the college.

In fact, there is one student she knows quite well.

Téa Armstrong, Addison’s older sister, will be a senior at UW – Eau Claire beginning this fall. Téa is also involved in athletics as a member of the tennis team.

“She is in the nursing program,” the younger Armstrong says. “We get along well. It will be fun to be at the same college together for her last year.”
