Buccaneers swept by Huskies in softball
JCC pitchers hold Maroon and Gold scoreless in doubleheader

Kylee Eckmann applies the tag on a throw from BEA catcher Ashlyn Klinkner to tag out the Jackson County Central runner who was trying to steal second base.
The Blue Earth Area Buccaneers played host to a tough Jackson County Central Huskies’ softball team for a doubleheader on Monday, April 29, at the 14th Street Diamonds in Blue Earth.
The Huskies did not give up a run while sweeping the twin bill. JCC won the first game 10-0 in six innings and were victorious by a 16-0 score, in four innings, in the second game.
“They are the best team we have faced this year,” BEA co-head coach Blake Boran said. “They have quality pitching and they can really hit the ball.”
JCC 10, BEA 0
The Huskies got all of the runs they needed in the first inning when Bailey Flinck hit a home run over the center field fence with one runner on base.
JCC scored at least one run in every inning of the game which was over after six innings due to the 10-run rule.
Things could have been worse for BEA, but catcher Ashlyn Klinkner gunned down two JCC runners attempting to steal second base in the top of the third inning after the Huskies had already scored one run in the inning.
JCC finished the game with 15 hits while BEA had eight.
“We only struck out seven times during the game and were putting the bat on the ball,” Boran said. “The Huskies play good defense and we were unable to score.”
Olivia Dutton went the distance for BEA. She walked two batters and struck out six. Eight of JCC’s runs were earned.
Eight different players had hits for the Bucs.
JCC 16, BEA 0
It only took four innings for the Huskies to put the Bucs away in the second game by a 16-0 score.
JCC was the home team on the scoreboard for the second game of the doubleheader.
After a scoreless first inning, the Huskies erupted for 12 runs in the bottom of the second inning. They added four more runs in the bottom of the third inning to complete their scoring.
Ava Grant pitched for BEA and was charged with the loss. She gave up 13 hits, walked three batters and struck out three.
The Bucs had only two hits in the game, one by Olivia Dutton and the other by Destinee Griffey.
