The Blue Earth Area golf team competed in Big South Conference East Division meets on Monday, April 29. While the BEA girls only had to travel to Fairmont for their meet, the boys were in Waseca for their competition.

Girls Results

The Blue Earth Area girls golf team took part in the six-team Big South Conference East Division Meet held at Interlaken Golf Course in Fairmont on Monday, April 29.

BEA took the team title with a score of 188 in the nine-hole tournament, which was played on holes 10-18 at the course. Fairmont was the runner up with a score of 205. Coming in third was Waseca with 222. St. Peter was fourth with 225, New Ulm had 238 to place fifth and Jackson County Central was sixth with an incomplete team.

Katelyn Storbeck captured medalist honors with a six-over-par score of 41. Storbeck began her round on hole No. 18 with a par. She also parred the 13th, 14th and 17th holes.

Payten Gudahl finished in second place with a 45. Gudahl birdied hole No. 13 and had a par on No. 15.

Finishing in third place was another Buccaneer golfer. Madison Ehrich carded a 46 to finish one stroke behind her teammate, Gudahl.

Completing BEA’s team scoring was Rylan Storbeck who shot a 56 to place 10th in the event.

Lola Lundquist and McKinley Hanson each shot a 57 to finish in a six-way tie for 11th place.

Boys Results

The Blue Earth Area boys finished in fifth place when they traveled to Waseca on Monday, April 29, to golf in the Big South Conference East Division Golf Meet which was held at Waseca Lakeside Club.

St. Peter won the team portion of the event with a score of 144. Waseca was second with 161, New Ulm placed third with 166, Jackson County Central came in fourth with 170, BEA placed fifth with 177 and Fairmont was sixth with 184.

The Saints’ Kaiden Brovild was the medalist for the meet with a 34. St. Peter golfers carded the three lowest scores during the meet.

Eli Blagg and Cole Becker each shot a 43 to lead the Bucs and tie for 16th place overall.

Blagg’s round included two pars while Becker had a birdie and three pars.

Max Loge had three pars and shot a 44 to finish in a tie for 19th place.

Hunter Viland’s 47 completed the scoring for BEA. He had three pars and finished in a three-way tie for 24th place.

Also golfing for BEA were Jackson Blondin who carded a 48 to finish 27th and Manny Granillo who shot a 49 to finish 31st.

St. Peter Invitational

The Blue Earth Area girls golf team competed in the St. Peter Varsity Golf Invitational held at Shoreland Country Club on Thursday, April 25.

The Bucs were one of six teams competing in the 18-hole tournament which saw the Byron Bears take first place with a team score of 354. BEA placed second with 383, Redwood Valley was third with 402, Fairmont took fourth with 412, Waseca came in fifth with 422 and St. Peter finished sixth with 490.

Mila Jenniges of Redwood Valley was the medalist for the meet with a seven-over-par score of 76. Byron golfers finished in the second, third, fourth and sixth spots while Brynn Gustafson of Fairmont finished fifth.

Katelyn Storbeck was BEA’s top golfer for the day. The sophomore finished with a 48-43-91 to finish in seventh place. She recorded pars on the ninth, 13th and 16th holes.

Finishing in eighth place overall with a 49-47-96 was senior Rylan Storbeck. Her round included a birdie on hole No. 12 and pars on the second, third, fifth, 16th and 17th holes.

Senior Payten Gudahl shot a 47-50-97 to finish in a tie for 10th place. Gudahl parred the 13th and 18th holes.

Madison Ehrich provided the fourth score for the Bucs. The senior carded a 53-46-99 to finish in 14th place.

Sophomore McKinley Hanson shot a 52 on the front nine and matched that score on the back nine to finish with a 104 which put her in a three-way tie for 17th place.
