Area track teams vie for True Team title
JWP wins the girls’ meet, MVL is the champion for the boys

BEA pole vaulter Addison Armstrong clears the bar easily in one of her early vaults during the Section 2A True Team Track Meet which was held at United South Central High School on May 7.
Teams from 16 different schools traveled to Wells on Tuesday, May 7 to compete in the Section 2A True Team Track Meet held at United South Central High School.
Two teams from this area, Blue Earth Area and United South Central/Alden Conger, were on hand to take part in the meet.
Girls Team Results
Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton edged Jackson County Central for the title by an 816-785 margin. Rounding out the top five finishers were River Valley in third place with 777 points, Sibley East in fourth with 744 and New Richland-Hartland-Ellendale-Geneva in fifth with 706.5.
BEA finished in 11th place with 483 and USC/AG was 12th with 459.
Both schools had a number of athletes finish in 10th place or better.
BEA Girls Results
BEA was led by Addison Armstrong who had a second-place finish in the pole vault with a height of 10-06.
Tailor Douglas captured third place in the pole vault by clearing the bar at 8-06.
In other field events, Chloe Groe finished fifth in the shot put with a toss of 31-09 and sixth in the discus with a throw of 93-02.
Sarah Dohm finished 10th in the triple jump with a mark of 30-05.
The Bucs’ 4×800-meter relay team finished 10th with a time of 11:58.05 and BEA’s 4×200-meter relay team was ninth with a time of 2:00.5.
Armstrong raced to a sixth-place finish in the 400-meter dash in 1:05.36.
Kyannah Brandt finished eighth in the 100-meter dash with a time of 14.18.
USC/AC Girls Results
In the running events, Danyelle Dickson was seventh in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:06.23.
Alexis Guenther placed 10th in the 1600-meter run in 6:00.17.
Chloe Bullerman completed the 300-meter hurdles in 51.38 to finish in sixth place.
USC/AC’s 4×400 meter relay team placed ninth with a time of 4:37.54.
The field events saw Kiera Schultz with a strong performance in the shot put with a heave of 31-11 to earn fourth place. Chloe Lutteke took second place in the discus with a mark of 103-01.
Madison Passer cleared the bar at a height of 4-06 to finish in eighth place in the high jump.
Boys Team Results
Minnesota Valley Lutheran came out on top in the boys’ competition with 850 points. Placing second was Maple River with 805 points, Lake Crystal-Wellcome Memorial-Nicollet was third with 766.5, Janesville Waldorf-Pemberton was fourth with 667 and Jackson County Central was fifth with 666.5.
USC/AC placed 13th with 396.5 and BEA was 14th with 356.
BEA Boys Results
Jacob Grandgenett crossed the finish line in 12.02 to finish in sixth place in the 100-meter dash. He finished second in the 200-meter dash with a time of 23.7.
BEA’s 4×400-meter relay team finished in ninth place with a time of 3:56.39.
Isaac Anderson made it over the high jump bar at 5-10 to finish in third place.
USC/AC Boys Results
The Rebels had two boys finish in the top 10 in the 110-meter hurdles. Brant Blosser was third in 17.12 and Isaac Hartman was ninth in 18.81.
Blosser was 10th in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 46.62.
Ezra Edwards placed eighth in the discus with a throw of 119-10.
Jayden Barnick was second in the high jump with a mark of 5-10.
Joshua Brooks was fifth in the pole vault at a height of 9-06.
