BEA 7, Pipestone 1

The Bucs won the final game of a doubleheader against Pipestone on May 11 behind another solid pitching performance by senior Taylor Davids.

Davids allowed only one unearned run in six and two thirds innings of work. He gave up four hits, walked four batters and struck out nine.

Kaden Ackerman relieved Davids to record the final out of the game.

BEA scored all of the runs they would need in the first inning.

Playing at Veterans Field in Blue Earth, the Bucs were the visiting team on the scoreboard for the second game of the twin bill and put four runs on the board to start the game.

Caleb Langager hit a lead-off double and moved to third base on a single by Carter Rosenau. With Davids batting, the Pipestone pitcher uncorked a wild pitch which allowed Langager to score and Rosenau to advance to second base.

Davids eventually walked to put runners at first and second base.

Peyton O’Hara came to the plate and another wild pitch moved both BEA baserunners into scoring position.

A single by O’Hara brought home Rosenau with Davids moving to third base. O’Hara was able to advance to second base on a passed ball.

Davids scored the Bucs’ third run of the game on a sacrifice fly by Noah Dahl with O’Hara remaining at second base. A double by Brandon Rhey to right field drove in O’Hara with the Maroon and Gold’s fourth run of the game.

BEA tacked on three more runs in the top of the third inning.

Walks to Dahl and Ackerman and a single by Rhey loaded the bases with Bucs to begin the third inning.

A walk to Matthew Klabunde forced Dahl home with the Bucs’ fifth run of the contest.

One out later another walk, this time to Langager, plated Ackerman to put the Bucs on top 6-0. Later, Rhey scored the Bucs’ third run of the inning.

The Bucs outhit the Arrows by an 8-4 margin in the game. BEA committed four errors compared to zero for Pipestone.

Rhey had two hits for the Bucs while Langager, Rosenau, Davids, O’Hara, Dahl and Klabunde each had one.

Rhey and Langager each had a double during the game.

BEA committed nine errors and Pipestone came away with a 6-2 victory over the Maroon and Gold.

The Bucs scored once in the first inning and once in the seventh to account for their two runs. The Arrows scored four times in the top of the second inning and added two more runs to their total in the top of the sixth.

The hometown Bucs rallied from a 3-1 deficit to take a 4-3 lead after five innings against the visiting Martin Luther/Granada-Huntley-East Chain/Truman Jaguars on Thursday, May 9, at Veterans Field. However, the Jaguars scored nine runs in the final two innings to record a 12-4 victory over the Bucs.

The Bucs’ three-run fifth inning began when Caleb Langager walked and went to second base on a ground out by Carter Rosenau.
