Bucs knocked out of playoffs by Wolverines
After losing earlier to No. 1-seeded Le Sueur-Henderson Giants

BEA pitcher Taylor Davids delivers a pitch during a recent Bucs’ game in Blue Earth.
The No. 4-seeded Sibley East Wolverines toppled the No. 9-seeded Blue Earth Area Buccaneers 11-2 in the Section 2AA Tournament to knock the Bucs out of the double elimination tourney.
The Wolverines combined 10 hits with three BEA errors to score in five of the six innings they batted.
Sibley East wasted no time in getting on the board in the bottom of the first inning. With two outs and two runners on base, center fielder Caden Willmsen laced a triple to center field to drive in two runs. Willmsen then scored on a single by Will Feterl to put the Wolverines on top 3-0 after one complete inning.
BEA got on the scoreboard with one run in the top of the second inning.
With one out, Noah Dahl and Kaden Ackerman each walked. A line drive single to left field by Branson Hauskins drove in Dahl to cut the Sibley East lead to 3-1.
The Bucs were one out away from getting out of the second inning without allowing a run before the Wolverines were able to score two more times to go on top 5-1.
BEA scored their final run in the top of the third inning. Caleb Langager singled to center field and stole second base to start the inning. Langager advanced to third base on a ground out by Carter Rosenau. Peyton O’Hara hit into a fielder’s choice to force out Johnathan Nelson, who was the courtesy runner for Davids, at second base which allowed Langager to cross home plate with the Bucs’ second run.
The Maroon and Gold held Sibley East scoreless in the bottom of the third inning, but the Wolverines added one more run in the fourth inning, two more in the fifth inning and three more in the sixth inning to secure the 11-2 victory.
Davids was charged with the loss after giving up eight runs, six earned, in five innings of work. He surrendered 10 hits, walked four batters and struck out four.
Langager pitched the sixth inning and gave up three unearned runs. He did not allow a hit and walked one batter and recorded one strikeout.
BEA had four hits. Hauskins had two while Langager and Davids had one each.
Sibley East, who lost to Maple River to send them to their game against BEA, continues play in the elimination bracket against Lake Crystal-Wellcome Memorial on June 1.
LSH 6, BEA 0
After defeating No. 8-seeded New Richland-Hartland-Ellendale-Geneva in the opening round of the playoffs, the Bucs faced the No. 1-seeded Giants of Le Sueur-Henderson on Tuesday, May 28, in the second round of the Section 2AA Tournament.
LSH held a 1-0 lead through the first four innings of the game. However, a three-run fifth inning by the Giants put the Bucs in a 4-0 hole and LSH went on to win the game 6-0.
“Noah Dahl pitched a good game,” BEA head coach Paul Nienaber said. “But we could not generate any offense against their pitcher.”
Indeed, Peyton O’Hara was the only BEA batter to get a hit against LSH pitcher, Logan Feeney.
Feeney struck out 17 Buccaneer batters while allowing only two walks.
