Track teams compete at Sub-Sections

BEA sends 20, USC/A-C qualifies 14 athletes for Section 2A Meet

The Blue Earth Area and United South Cental/Alden-Conger track teams participated in the Section 2A Subsection track meet on Thursday, May 23, in Wells.

The Bucs had athletes qualify to move on to the Section 2A Track Meet in 17 individual events and three relay events.

While the Rebels did not have any relay teams qualify for Sections, they qualified athletes to move on in 15 individual events.

The Section 2A Track Meet was scheduled to be held at Mankato West High School on June 1. Results from that meet will be in next week’s Faribault County Register.

BEA Girls Results

Leading the Buccaneers who qualified for the Section 2A meet was Addison Armstrong, who qualified in three events.

Armstrong cleared the bar in the pole vault at 11-01 to set a new BEA record for girls in that event.

Armstrong also qualified in the 400-meter dash with a fourth-place finish in 65.33 and as a member of the 4×200-meter relay team.

Kyannah Brandt, Kate Armon and Tailor Douglas joined Armstrong in running the 4×200-meter relay in 1:56.23, which was good for fourth place.

The 4×800-meter relay team of Sidney Eitzmann, Caitlin Eitzmann, Natalie Griffey and Aubrey Woodwick also qaulified for Sections with a fourth-place time of 11:12.51.

Sarah Dohm and Sidney Eitzmann each qualified for Sections in the triple jump. Dohm had a leap of 30-10.5 to finish sixth while Eitzmann’s mark was 30-04 to finish eighth.

Two more Bucs qualified for Sections in the shot put. Chloe Groe had a toss of 31-10.5 which put her in seventh place. Taylor Ripley finished in eighth place with a throw of 29-7.5.

Groe and Anna Mwangi each qualified in the discus. Groe finished fourth with a distance of 97-07 while Mwangi’s mark of 89-02 put her in seventh place.

Brandt earned a place at Sections in the long jump with a leap of 15-04 which was good for fifth place.

Douglas qualified with a fifth-place finish in the pole vault by clearing the bar at eight feet.

BEA Boys Results

The BEA boys qualified for the Section 2A Meet in one relay and seven individual events.

Gage Barker, Caden Juba, Tristan Hanson and Jacob Grandgenett crossed the finish line in 1:36.69 to place third in the 4×200-meter relay.

Grandgenett also qualified in two individual events. He was second in the 100-meter dash in 11.91 and third in the 200-meter dash in 23.31.

Juba covered a distance of 37-10.75 to place seventh in the triple jump.

Marcus Eckles was third in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 45.14.

In the shot put, Chase Gambell earned a place at the Section 2A Meet with a toss of 39-04.5.

The final two BEA boys to move on to the Section meet were Branson Hauskins and Isaac Anderson in the high jump. Hauskins placed second with a jump of 5-10 while Anderson was sixth with a mark of 5-08.

USC/A-C Girls Results

The Rebel girls had 10 performances which were good enough to advance the athletes to the Section 2A Meet.

Chloe Lutteke placed first in the discus with a throw of 107-10.

Two girls, Madison Passer and Sydney Sauke, qualified in the 100-meter high hurdles. Passer finished in 18.14 to place fourth and Sauke had a time of 18.54 to finish seventh.

Alexis Guenther qualified in the 1600-meter run with a time of 5:56.07 to place fourth.

Danyelle Dickson’s time of 1:05.55 in the 400-meter dash gave her a fifth-place finish.

In the 300-meter hurdles, Chloe Bullerman finished third in 52.42.

Antoinette Dickson crossed the finish line in the 200-meter run with a time of 28.89 to finish in seventh place.

Kiera Schultz was fifth in the shot put with a toss of 32-11.5.

Passer and Hannah Warmka each qualified in the high jump. Passer cleared the bar at 4-10 to place second while Warmka’s jump of 4-08 put her in eighth place.

USC/A-C Boys Results

Five USC/A-C boys qualified for the Section 2A Track Meet in five different events.

Brant Blosser was second in the 100-meter hurdles in 17.43.

In the 300-meter hurdles, Isaac Hartman had a time of 45.59 to finish in fifth place.

The discus event saw Ezra Edwards finish fourth with a throw of 123-09.

Angel Dejesus was seventh in the long jump with a leap of 19-02 and Jayden Barnick was fifth in the high jump with a mark of 5-10.
