USC’s Neubauer, Heggen qualify for State Golf
After the second day of the Section 2A Boys Golf Tournament, the United South Central boys golf team had dropped down to third place in the competition and was out of contention for a state berth.
However one of the team’s golfers, senior Kadyn Neubauer, had placed fourth in the Section competition and qualified to go to the State Tournament.
This will be Neubauer’s fourth appearance at the State Tournament, which this year will take place on June 11-12, again at Pebble Creek Golf Course in Becker.
Neubauer shot a 75 on the second day of the Section Tourney. Teammate Brennan Olson shot an 85 for 10th place and was just one stroke off a State Tournament berth.
Blake Bullerman was in 15th place with his score of 88. Brennan Anderson was in 30th place with a score of 95. Other Rebel varsity golfers were Mason Schroeder with a 103 and 36th place and Jon Stanke with a 114 putting him in 37th place.
USC’s two day team score was 684 which put them in third place. Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton shot a 638 for first place and New Ulm Cathedral shot a 674 for second place.
Sleepy Eye United came in with an even 700 for fourth place.
Hunter Schmidt of Martin County West was the medalist for Day 2 of the Section with a score of 71.
The top team at the Section and the top five individuals not on the first place team all qualify for the State Tourney.
USC Girls Golf Results
One member of the United South Central girls golf team will also be headed to the State Tournament on June 11-12 in Becker.
Emma Heggen, a junior, came in at third place overall in the Section Tourney with a second day score of 98. This will be Heggen’s second appearance at the Class A State Golf Tournament.
One other USC girls’ team golfer competed at the Section. Eva Hernandez shot a 133 and was in 21st place.
The medalist for Day 2 of the Section was Sam Price of Sleepy Eye United who shot a 96.
Sleepy Eye United also took the team Section 2A championship title with a team score of 856. Alden-Conger was second with 986, New Ulm Cathedral third at 994 and Mountain Lake Area fourth with 1,011.
The first place team goes on to State along with the top five individuals not on the first place team.
