BE/W Legion baseball season is underway
The Blue Earth/Winnebago American Legion baseball team lost to the Maple River Legion team 7-0 on Monday, June 10, to drop their record to 1-2 for the season. The game was played at Veterans Field in Blue Earth.
Maple River scored two runs in the top of the first inning, one in the second inning and four in the fifth inning to account for their seven runs.
BE/W had seven hits during the contest but could not push any runs across the plate.
Noah Dahl started on the mound for BE/W and threw five complete innings. He gave up seven earned runs on eight hits while walking one batter and striking out four.
Kaden Ackerman hurled the final two innings and held Maple River scoreless. He walked two batters and struck out one. He did not allow a hit.
BE/W 9, St. James 6
The Blue Earth/Winnebago American Legion Baseball team evened their record at 1-1 when they defeated host St. James 9-6 on Thursday, June 6.
BE/W was trailing St. James 5-0 heading into the top of the sixth inning. Noah Barnett and Caleb Langager both reached base on walks and scored on a two-out double by Taylor Davids to cut the St. James lead to 5-2.
A double by Peyton O’Hara scored Davids. A single by Noah Dahl put runners at the corners, BE/W executed a double steal which allowed O’Hara to score BE/W’s fourth run of the game.
St. James scored once in the bottom of the sixth inning to take a 6-4 lead heading into the seventh inning.
BE/W scored five runs in the top of the seventh inning while only getting one hit. Walks to Branson Hauskins, Matthew Klabunde, Langager, Carter Rosenau, Davids and Dahl plus a single by Hayden Vereide enabled BE/W to score five runs and go home with a 9-6 victory.
Davids pitched five innings and gave up eight hits. He was charged with five runs (three earned). He walked two batters and struck out five.
Dahl picked up the win in relief. He allowed three hits and one earned run in two innings of work.
Wells 6, BE/W 4
Even though the Blue Earth/Winnebago American Legion baseball team outhit Wells 8-4, it was Wells who came out on top by a final score of 6-4.
Caleb Langager went the distance on the mound for BE/W and took the loss after giving up six runs (three earned) on four hits. He walked three batters and struck out five.
Aiden Crabtree picked up the win for Wells. He allowed four earned runs on eight hits while walking four batters and striking out 11.
