The Blue Earth Pirates went on the road to Morristown and avenged an earlier loss to the Morries with a 10-4 victory in baseball action on June 23.

Morristown held a 2-1 lead after four complete innings but Blue Earth erupted for six runs in the top of the fifth inning before adding three more runs in their half of the sixth inning to account for their 10 runs.

The Pirates got on the board first with a single run in the top of the second inning. Logan O’Hara walked with two outs and moved to second base on a single by Zac Schonrock. O’Hara scored on a single to center field by Tanner Nawrocki.

The Morries produced one run in the bottom of the second inning to tie the game at 1-1 and added another run in the bottom of the fourth inning to go on top 2-1.

Blue Earth’s six-run fifth inning began with a lead-off single by Schonrock. A walk to Nawrocki put runners on first and second base.

Kaylan Legred bunted for a single and an error by the pitcher allowed Schonrock to score and Nawrocki to advance to third base.

Brayden Barnett was hit by a pitch to fill the bases with no outs.

Hunter Bleess was safe on a fielder’s choice with Nawrocki scoring and Legred being forced out at third base for the first out of the inning.

A single by Brandyn Olsen loaded the bases again with Barnett advancing to third base and Bleess to second.

A triple to right field by Lee Hodges brought home all three runners and gave the Pirates a 6-2 lead. A triple by Parker Meyers scored Hodges with Blue Earth’s seventh run of the game.

Morristown scored once in the bottom of the fifth inning to cut Blue Earth’s lead to 7-3.

Barnett hit a one-out single to get things going for the Pirates in the sixth inning. A single by Bleess put runners on first and second. Olsen’s home run to left field cleared the bases and made the score 10-3 in favor of Blue Earth.

Morristown added one more run in the bottom of the eighth inning to make the final score 10-4. The win improved Blue Earth’s record to 5-4 for the season.

The Pirates outhit the Morries 14-10. Four Blue Earth players had multiple hit games led by Schonrock with three hits and Olsen, Meyers and Legred with two hits each.

Olsen and Hodges each drove in three runs.

Hodges picked up the win for Blue Earth after pitching eight innings and giving up four earned runs on 10 hits. He walked three batters and struck out three.

Kade Hobbs pitched a scoreless ninth inning. He walked one batter and had one strikeout.

Blue Earth 6, Cleveland 4

The Pirates broke a 3-3 tie with three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning on their way to a 6-4 victory over the Cleveland Spiders at Veterans Field in Blue Earth on June 19.

Taylor Davids started the game and picked up the victory after hurling six innings and being charged with three runs (two earned). The right hander gave up five hits while walking three batters and striking out seven.

Cody Sukalski pitched the final three innings and picked up a save after allowing one unearned run on two hits. He walked two batters and struck out four.

The Pirates scored once in the bottom of the first. Hunter Bleess singled to center field, advanced to second base on a ground out by Brandyn Olsen and scored on a single by Parker Meyers.

Blue Earth added two runs in the bottom of the second inning. Tanner Nawrocki reached base on a fielder’s choice after Garrett Anderson led off the inning with a single. Base hits by Davids and Brayden Barnett filled the bases with Pirates. A single by Bleess drove in Nawrocki and Davids to give the Pirates a 3-0 lead.

Cleveland scored three times in the top of the fourth inning to knot the game at 3-3.

The Pirates three-run sixth inning began with a single by Sukalski to center and a bunt single by Kaylan Legred.

The Cleveland shortstop misplayed a ground ball by Nawrocki allowing Sukalski to score, Legred to advance to third and Nawrocki to be safe at first.

Nawrocki stole second base before Cleveland recorded the first out of the inning on a strikeout. However, Barnett’s line drive single to right field scored Legred and Nawrocki with Blue Earth’s fifth and sixth runs of the game.

The Spiders added one more run in the top of the ninth inning to make the final 6-4 in favor of the Pirates.

Blue Earth had 11 hits to Cleveland’s seven. Barnett had three hits and drove in two runs while Bleess had two hits while driving in two runs.
