Rebel girls defeat Wolverines

Brylee Neubauer won her No. 1 singles match against the Sibley East Wolverines on Aug. 27.

The United South Central Rebels’ girls tennis team took on Sibley East-Arlington on Tuesday, Aug. 27, and won by a score of 5-2.

The Rebels won all four singles matches and one of the doubles matches on their way to the victory.

USC’s Brylee Neubauer defeated Morgan Johnson by scores of 6-1, 6-3 at No. 1 singles.

At No. 2 singles, Olivia Bungum defeated Morgan Haggenmiller in a close match, 6-4, 7-6 (4).

Ivy O’Rourke took a 6-4, 6-4, victory over Amelia Odentahl at No. 3 singles and Maya Hansen defeated Tessa McCracken in a hard-fought 6-3, 7-6 (6), 6-3 victory at No. 4 singles.

The Rebels’ No.1 doubles team of Addison Mithun and Lauren Hansen downed Ady Beneke and Hannah Bartlette, 6-1, 6-2.

At No. 2 doubles it was Juliana Clore and Kylee Koziolek of USC falling 4-6, 6-4, 6-4, to Macey Thoele and Addie Cowell. At No. 3 doubles Elise Hansen and Caitlin Rheingans of USC lost a close one, 7-6 (11), 6-1, to Kylah Olson and Taylor Moos.

Next up for the Rebels was a match at Mankato East on Friday, Aug. 30. On Thursday, Sept. 5, they travel to Madelia and Saturday, Sept. 7, they host Austin and Worthington.
