USC wins three straight in tennis
After losing a close meet against the Maple River Eagles 4-3

The United South Central girls tennis team downed the Le Sueur-Henderson squad by a score of 5-2 in a match played on Tuesday, Sept. 10, at home.
The Rebels won all four of the singles matches, and one of the doubles matches, on their way to the victory.
None of the singles matches were very close. Brylee Neubauer started things off with a 6-1, 6-0, win over Addison Fahey at No. 1 singles. At No. 2 singles, Olivia Bungum defeated Alice Breaker, 6-2, 6-0.
Lauren Hansen blanked Ava Becker of LSU, 6-0, 6-0, at No. 3 singles, and Ivy O’Rourke finished the sweep with a 6-0, 6-2 win over Natalie Haemig at No. 4 singles.
At No. 1 doubles Maya Hansen and Addison Mithun combined for a 6-4, 6-1 win over Koreyann Straub and Sallie Nesbit.
USC’s Juliana Clore and Caitlin Rheingans lost 6-1, 6-2, to Teagan Graham and Carlin Straub at No. 2 doubles. Elise Hansen and Lydia Hartman fell 6-3, 6-0, to Kiandra Straub and Libby Genelin of LSU at No. 3 doubles.
USC 7, Austin 0
The Rebels hosted the tennis teams from Austin and Worthington in matches played on Saturday, Sept. 7 and won both of them 7-0.
Against Austin, Brylee Neubauer won her match against Claudia Slinden, 6-0, 6-1, at No. 1 singles. At No. 2 singles, Olivia Bungum downed Yazmine Huerta 6-1, 6-1.
Lauren Hansen won 6-1, 6-1, at No. 2 singles against Gisele Hinks and Ivy O’Rourke blanked Sophia Meyer 6-0, 6-0 at No. 4 singles.
Addison Mithun and Maya Hansen won 6-1, 6-3 over Payton Nelson and Isabelle Owens at No. 1 doubles, Julian Clore and Caitlin Rheingans teamed up for a 6-0, 6-2, win over Kay Kaywee and Kayla Ball at No. 2 doubles and Elise Hansen and Brooklyn Miller won 4-6, 6-3, 1-0 (8) over Eva Lopez and Megan Grush at No. 3 doubles.
USC 7, Worthington 0
The Rebels also won all seven matches against Worthington.
Brylee Neubauer took down Hannah McNab at No. 1 singles, 6-1, 6-2. At No. 2 singles Olivia Bungum won 6-0, 6-1, over Chloe Martinez.
At No. 3 singles, Lauren Hansen defeated Sadie Nickel 6-1, 6-0, and at No. 4 singles it was Ivy O’Rourke blanking Makayla Phouanghet, 6-0, 6-0.
At No. 1 doubles, Addison Mithun and Maya Hansen took on Angie Dailey and Cassie Schultz and shut them out, 6-0, 6-0.
Juliana Clore and Caitlin Rheingans defeated Kah Blu Moo and Ashley Esparza 6-1, 6-3, at No. 2 doubles.
No. 3 doubles had to go to three sets with Elise Hansen and Claire Schimek taking a 6-4, 0-6, 1-0 (8) win over Lily Brown and Madison Poe.
Maple River 4, USC 3
USC won all three doubles matches, but Maple River won all four singles matches and took the victory in a match played on Thursday, Sept. 5, at Maple River.
Addison Mithun and Lauren Hansen teamed up to defeat Kelsey Jaeger and Claire Langworthy 6-4, 6-2, at No. 1 doubles.
It was Ivy O’Rourke and Maya Hansen getting a 6-4, 6-4 win over Madison Ward and Norah Davis at No. 2 doubles.
Juliana Clore and Kylee Koziolek had a battle at No, 3 doubles but came out on top 6-1, 4-6, 6-2.
At No. 1 singles, USC’s Brylee Neubauer lost 6-0, 6-0, to Macy Sohre. Olivia Bungum fell 6-1, 6-1, to Ally Mersman at No. 2 singles, Caitlin Rheingans lost 6-0, 6-0, to Tabitha Barkosky at No, 3 singles, and at No. 4 singles, Elise Hansen lost 7-5, 6-4, to Reagan Reuter.
