The Jackson County Central Huskies football team is ranked No. 4 in Class 2AA in the state according to the Minneapolis Star Tribune Football Hub. However, after seeing them defeat the Blue Earth Area Buccaneers 63-0 on Sept. 13, it is hard to believe there is a team better than them in their class.

JCC wasted no time in getting on the scoreboard. The Huskies needed only two plays from the line of scrimmage to score on a 24-yard touchdown run by Ben Dahlin. The two-point conversion was good and JCC held an 8-0 lead.

The Huskies came up with an interception on the Bucs’ next drive and scored on the next play when quarterback Roman Voss kept the ball and eluded the BEA tacklers for a 30-yard touchdown run.

By the time the first quarter was complete, JCC held a 24-0 lead. They increased their advantage to 38-0 by halftime and added 13 points in the third quarter and 12 more in the fourth to account for their total of 63.

The stifling JCC defense limited BEA to four first downs and a total of 54 yards of total offense. The Bucs gained 29 yards on the ground and had 25 yards through the air.

In contrast, the Huskies had 18 first downs and 507 yards of total offense. They had 350 rushing yards and 157 passing yards.

Gage Barker, Carter Rosenau, Omar Gomez and Timmy Nagel each had four tackles for the Bucs. Barker also had an interception which occurred with just over four minutes left in the first half.

Buccaneer quarterback Jacob Grandgenett attempted 13 passes and completed five for a total of 25 yards. His two longest completions of the game were 12 yards to Branson Hauskins and 11 yards to Sully Dahlberg.

Grandgenett was the leading rusher for BEA with 20 yards on six attempts.

BEA’s record falls to 0-3. The Bucs played at Maple River for the Eagles’ Homecoming game on Sept. 20. BEA will travel to Luverne on Sept. 27 to face the Cardinals.
