Woodwick is fifth at Maple River Invite
Eitzmann places seventh; Devin Haase is ninth in the boys race
The Blue Earth Area girls cross country team had two girls with top-10 finishes when the Bucs participated in the Maple River Invite on Thursday, Sept 12.
Aubrey Woodwick ran to a fifth-place finish in the 5,000-meter race with a time of 24:23 while Sidney Eitzmann’s time of 25:25 was good for seventh place.
BEA’s other runners were April Garcia who finished 19th with a time of 28:12, Makayla Ankeny, who was 27th with a time of 29:58 and Analiz Leal, who finished 36th with a time of 39:49.
Waterville-Elysia-Morristown/Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton captured first place while Minnesota Valley Lutheran was the runner-up. BEA finished in third place.
The Bucs’ Natalie Griffey won the 2,000-meter junior high event with a time of 8:25. Sakura Harding placed fourth in 10:31.
Boys Results
Minnesota Valley Lutheran finished in first place in the boys competition. United South Central came in second while BEA finished fifth.
Devin Haase broke into the top-10 with a ninth-place finish and a time of 21:23.
Marcus Eckles was 26th in 24:03.
Finishing right behind Eckles in 27th place was Sam Bell with a time of 24:22.
Gibson Haase crossed the finish line in 25:08 to finish in 31st place.
Michael Vaske had a time of 26:33 to finish 38th.
Noah Hanson was 41st with a time of 27:44.
The Bucs had three runners compete in the junior high race.
Brayden Garlick was third with a time of 8:54, Gus Ankeny was fifth with a time of 9:34 and Harrison Patten placed eighth with a time of 12:05.
The BEA cross country teams competed at Jackson on Sept. 19. They will run at a meet in Janesville on Sept. 26.
