Dylan Bonsack makes a cut to evade a tackler during a USC football game earlier this year. In the Rebels’ last game against the JWP Bulldogs, Bonsack led USC in rushing with 83 yards and receiving yards with 58 to help lead USC to an 18-0 victory.

The United South Central Rebels scored three touchdowns, and no points after touchdown, in their game against the Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton Bulldogs on Friday, Oct. 4.

That was more than enough points to win the game as USC shut out JWP 18-0.

The first Rebel score came in the first quarter on a 92-yard, 14-play opening game drive down the field. The try for points after touchdown failed.

The score came on a three-yard run by Byron Getchell.

The next touchdown was in the second quarter and came on just a three-play, 41-yard drive.

This time it was Getchell throwing a pass to Dylan Bonsack who raced to the end zone to complete a 37-yard touchdown pass play. The try for a two-point conversion again failed.

The final touchdown for the Rebels came right near the end of the game in the fourth quarter. This time it was back to Getchell on a one-yard run into the end zone for the score.

It came at the end of a 70-yard, 16-play drive. Again the try for the extra points failed.

The time of possession heavily favored the Rebels, at 30:13 to 17:47. USC also had 16 first downs to JWP’s nine and 50 plays to their 37.

The Rebels had 249 total yards of offense with 167 on the ground and 82 through the air. The

Bulldogs had 154 yards of offense with 55 on the ground and 99 in the air.

Kolt Bullerman was 4 of 7 passing the ball, for 45 yards. Getchell was 1 for 1 for 37 yards.

Getchell led the team in rushing with 83 yards on 18 carries. Gavin Bird had 47 yards on 10 totes, Bonsack 37 on eight tries and Bullerman six yards on four attempts.

Bonsack caught two passes for 58 yards, Getchell two passes for 11 yards and Bird one pass for 13 yards.

Getchell also led on defense with seven tackles and Isaiah Gonzalez had six.

With the win, USC improved their record to 3-3 for the season.

Next up for the Rebels was a game at St. Clair on Thursday, Oct. 10. Details on that game will be in the next issue of the Faribault County Register.

This week USC will host New Richland-Hartland-Ellendale-Geneva on a Wednesday night, Oct. 16.
