Bucs eliminated from Section 2AA Tourney

Sibley East hangs on to triumph over Blue Earth Area in four sets

Round one of the Section 2AA volleyball tournament had the Sibley East Wolverines hosting the Blue Earth Area Buccaneers with the winner advancing to face the top-seeded team in the section, Belle Plaine.

The Wolverines won the first set 25-18 and the second set 25-15. The Bucs turned things around in the third set and claimed a 25-15 victory. The Wolverines regrouped and triumphed in the fourth set 25-17 to claim a 3-1 victory and end the season for the Bucs.

Autumn Gordon had a big game for BEA with 20 kills, 10 digs and nine service points, including two aces on 14-for-15 serving.

Taylor Ripley led the team in set assists with 15. She had 11 digs, three kills and was 14-for-15 serving for eight points.

Madelyn Ferguson led Bucs on defense with 24 digs. She also had two set assists.

Tailor Douglas was the leading server with 11 points and five aces on 16-for-19 serving. She also contributed 13 digs, four kills and an ace block.

Madison Ehrich finished the night with 10 set assists and Laura Steinhauer had three kills.

Aubrey Koch was 7-for-8 at the service line with one ace and four points.

Marissa Wright was a perfect 7-for-7 serving with one ace and three points.

BEA ends their season with an overall record of five wins and 21 losses.

The Bucs were 2-9 in Section 2AA play and 1-6 in the Big South Conference.

The Blue Earth Area Buccaneers volleyball team finished the regular season portion of their schedule with a contest against the Lake Crystal-Wellcome Memorial Knights at Lake Crystal on Monday, Oct. 14.

The Knights recorded their 19th win of the season when they defeated the Bucs in straight sets, 25-8, 25-16, 25-18.

Madelyn Ferguson had 12 digs to lead the Buccaneer defense. Taylor Ripley contributed six digs, Autumn Gordon had five and Tailor Douglas finished with four.

Madison Ehrich led the team in set assists with seven followed by Ripley with five.

Autumn Gordon was the leader at the net with six kills. Anna Mwangi tallied three kills and Taylor Douglas had two.

Douglas had four service points and two aces on 10-for-10 serving. Ferguson was 6-for-8 at the service line with three service points.

The Bucs finished the regular season with a record of 5-20.
