United South Central’s Olivia Bungum scored her 1,000 career point when the Rebels played the Hayfield Vikings on Jan. 16. The sophomore guard scored 15 points in the game which was the exact point total she needed to reach the 1,000 point mark.

The United South Central Rebels girls basketball team had another big game on Tuesday, Jan. 21, when they downed the Medford Tigers by a score of 71 to 47.

The top scorers for the Rebels were their two players who just last week reached the 1,000th point marks in their high school careers.

Olivia Bungum had 21 points in the game against the Tigers, while teammate Taylor Schroeder added 18 points as well as grabbing six rebounds.

Chloe Bullerman had a triple double in the game, scoring 10 points, nabbing 10 rebounds, and also making 10 blocked shots in the game.

Ivy O’Rourke also had 10 points, as well as six rebounds.

The Rebels’ next game was slated to be on Thursday, Jan. 23, against Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton.

This week they are scheduled to host New Richland-Hartland-Ellendale-Geneva on Friday, Jan. 31.

Hayfield 77, USC 47

While the United South Central girls basketball team suffered a 77-47 loss against the Hayfield Vikings on Thursday night, Jan. 16, the game did have one big highlight for the Rebels.

Sophomore Olivia Bungum scored the 1,000th point of her high school career during the game.

Bungum needed 15 points to reach the milestone and she scored exactly 15 points in the game.

Already in her career Bungum has broken five school records including most 3-pointers in a game (seven), most points in a game (34), most points in a season (505), the most 3-pointers in a season (65) and the most steals in a game (10).

Bungum’s teammate Taylor Schroeder also had 15 points in the game against Hayfield. Schroeder reached her 1,000 point milestone the week before.

Schroeder also had six rebounds against Hayfield, while Ivy O’Rourke and Alivia Bruegger each had five points and Bruegger led the team in rebounds with nine.

The Rebels could not overcome the Vikings in the game and lost, with the final score being 77-47.
