Worthington gets by BEA in gymnastics
Season is winding down with Section 2A Meet held on Feb. 13

The Blue Earth Area gymnastics team was without their senior leader, Tailor Douglas, when they went on the road on Feb. 4, to face Worthington in a battle of Big South Schools. In the end, it was the host Trojans who came out on top over the Buccaneers 139.925-126.525.
“Tailor was out sick,” BEA coach Rachel Cole said. “That being said, we had a really good meet with several more personal bests. We just continue to battle with the beam.”
Parker Stallman led the Bucs in vault with an 8.55 to finish in sixth place. Ella Schonborn was seventh with 8.325, Cassandra Hagedorn was eighth with 8.3, MaLeah Osmundson was ninth with 8.25 and Kyannah Brandt was 10th with 8.175.
Stallman took second place in bars with an 8.5. Brynlee Amundson was sixth with 7.75, Osmundson was seventh with 7.375, Audrey Schonborn was eighth with 7.225 and Taylynn Amundson was 10th with 6.2.
Brandt had the best score for the Bucs on beam with a 7.6 and a sixth-place finish. Osmundson was seventh with 7.2, Khloe McGowen was eighth with 7.075, Stallman was ninth with 7.050 and Sidney Eitzman was 10th with 6.8.
The floor exercise saw Stallman having the best score for BEA with an 8.45, which put her in sixth place. Osmundson finished in seventh place with 8.425, Kailey Boettcher was eighth with 8.4, Brynlee Amundson and Taylynn Amundson tied for ninth place with 8.05.
Stallman finished third in the all-around with 32.55. Osmundson was the other BEA gymnast to compete in all four events and she brought home a fourth-place finish with 31.25.
The Section 2A gymnastics competition was held on Thursday, Feb. 13, at Mankato East High School. Look for the results from that competition in next week’s edition of the Faribault County Register.
Junior Varsity
The Worthington junior varsity defeated the BEA junior varsity 128.5-111.5.
Kailey Boetcher tied for third in vault with 8.35. Audrey Schonborn was fourth with 8.15, Taylynn and Brynlee Amundson tied for fifth with 8.1, Amaya Mensing was sixth with 8.05 and Khloe McGowen was eighth with 7.85.
Cassandra Hagedorn had the best score for the Bucs on bars with a 6.35 which put her in sixth place. Boettcher’s score of 5.7 was good for eighth place, Ella Schonborn had 5.05 for 10th place and Amaya mensing was 12th with 4.9.
Mensing and Taylynn Amundson were the top finishers for BEA on beam with a 6.8 which put them in a tie for eighth place. Hagedorn finished ninth with 6.7, Brynlee Amundson was 10th with 6.5 and Elsa Greer was 11th with 6.4.
Brandt was BEA’s top performer in floor with a fourth-place finish and a score of 7.9. Mensing took sixth place with 7.6, Hagedorn tied for seventh with 7.5 while Ella Schonborn and Audrey Schonborn each had 7.2 to tie for eighth.
Amaya Mensing was the Bucs’ only junior varsity gymnast to compete in all four events and she finished fifth in the all-around with 27.35.
The girls participated in the Section 2A Meet at Mankato East on Feb. 13.
