Track season gets underway for Bucs
Anderson takes first place in boys high jump with leap of 6-foot-2
The 2025 track season got underway for the Blue Earth Area track teams on Friday, March 21, at the St. Peter Indoor Invitational which was held on the campus of Minnesota State – Mankato.
The meet featured five teams. In addition to the Bucs and the host St. Peter Saints, the other teams were the Fairmont Cardinals, New Ulm Eagles and St. James Saints.
Girls Results
Fairmont had a strong showing in the first competition of the year and finished in first place with 161 points. They were followed by St. Peter in second place with 120.5, St. James in third with 62, New Ulm in fourth with 53.83 and BEA in fifth with 47.67.
The Bucs achieved many personal records during the meet and coach Donna Nawrocki looks forward to seeing the girls improve throughout the year.
“I have no doubt that all the personal records will get broken very soon,” Nawrocki commented.
Kyannah Brandt began her season with a first-place finish in the long jump with a leap of 14-2.
Sarah Dohm brought home a fourth-place finish in the triple jump with a distance of 28-5.
Addison Smith cleared the bar in the high jump at 4-6 which was good for fourth place.
Tailor Douglas finished third in the pole vault with a mark of 7-6.
The 4×800-meter team of Sidney Eitzmann, Madie Redepenning, Caitlin Eitzmann and Aubrey Woodwick finished in second place with a time of 11:58.3.
The team of Brandt, Sidney Eitzmann, Grace Schavey and Douglas finished third in the 4×200-meter relay with a time of 2:05.4.
Taylynn Amundson, Breanna Hefner-Roggeman, Khloe McGowen and April Garcia took fourth place in the medley relay with a time of 5:52.0.
Grace Nelson and Parker Stallman each had personal-best times of 8.9 while finishing in a tie for sixth place in the 60-meter dash.
Nelson’s time of 32.1 was good for sixth place in the 200-meter dash.
Emerson Weir had a personal-best time of 72.4 in the 400-meter dash to finish in fifth place.
In the 800-meter run, Aubrey Woodwick posted a time of 2:51.0 to finish in sixth place.
Boys Results
Fairmont also captured first place in the boys meet. Their score of 163.67 put them well ahead of second place St. Peter who had 92.42. Finishing third was New Ulm with 76.56, St. James was fourth with 72.17 and BEA was fifth with 31.17.
Isaac Anderson started his season on a strong note by clearing the bar in the high jump at 6-2 to finish in first place. Not only was his jump a personal best but his mark also put him on the BEA Indoor Track Honor Roll.
Ryder Stauffer had a personal-best leap of 30-8 in the long jump to finish in fifth place.
The Bucs’ medley relay team of Hayden Prestegard, Parker Stauffer, Ryder Stauffer and Oliver Ankeny finished in fourth place with a time of 4:41.4.
Hose Salinas, Branson Hauskins, Anderson and Tristan Hanson teamed up to run a 1:45.2 in the 4×200-meter relay which put them in second place.
Pablo Ozuna had a personal-best time of 10.8 to take fourth place in the 60-meter high hurdles.
In the 200-meter dash, Salinas had a person-best time of 25.9 to finish in fourth place.
