Bucs wrap up indoor season by hosting a meet at Minnesota State

The Blue Earth Area Buccaneers track team participated in the Viesselman True Team Invitational held at United South Central High School on Tuesday, April 8.

Girls Results

Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton won the six-team invite with 279.5 points. Lake Crystal-Wellcome Memorial-Nicollet was second with 271.5, New Richland-Hartland-Ellendale-Geneva placed third with 214, USC was fourth with 175, BEA was fifth with 174 and Waterville-Elysian-Morristown was sixth with 151.

Those competitors finishing sixth or higher include Breanna Hefner-Roggeman with a sixth-place finish in the 200-meter dash in 30.98.

Aubrey Woodwick was third in the 800-meter dash with a time of 2:56.66.

Woodwick also ran the 1600 meter race where she finished in fourth place with a time of 6:32.66.

The 4×100-meter relay team of Kyannah Brandt, Grace Schavey, Iree McKay and Roggeman ran to a third-place finish with a time of 57.56. The same four girls placed fourth in the 4×200-meter relay when they crossed the finish line in 2:04.04.

Caitlin Eitzmann, April Garcia, Natalie Schiltz and Emersen Weir had a time of 5:04.72 to finish fifth in the 4×400-meter relay.

Eitzmann, Madie Redepenning, Schiltz and Garcia earned a fourth-place finish in the 4×800-meter relay with a time of 11:59.52.

Taylor Ripley’s toss of 28-1 in the shot put her in fourth place.

Anna Mwangi captured second place in the discus with a throw of 88-6.5.

Addison Smith was sixth in the high jump when she cleared the bar at 4-6.

Brandt had a leap of 14-8 in the long jump to finish in sixth place.

In the triple jump, Sarah Dohm had a mark of 28-8 to finish in sixth place.

Boys Results

LCWM-Nicollet placed first with 292 points, JWP was second with 248, USC was third with 244, BEA was fourth with 198, WEM finished fifth with 151 and NRHEG was sixth with 150.

Jacob Grandgenett placed second in both the 100 and 200-meter dashes.

Grandgenett’s second place time in the 100 was 12.26 while his runner-up time in the 200 was 24.33.

Marcus Eckles was fourth in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 18.71.

Eckles placed second in the 300-meter hurdles in 44.76.

In the 4×100-meter relay, Parker Stauffer, Jose Salinas, Tristan Hanson and Caden Juba finished in third place with a time of 50.24.

Hanson, Juba, Salinas and Grandgenett took second in the 4×200-meter relay when they crossed the finish line in 1:42.09.

Hayden Prestegard, Julian Rodriguez, Pablo Ozuna and Marcus Eckles teamed up to finish third in the 4×400 relay with a third-place time of 4:12.94.

Chase Gambell had a toss of 38-11.5 to finish third in the shot put.

Gambell was sixth in the discus with a throw of 89-10.

Isaac Anderson surpassed all competitors in the high jump with a first-place leap of 6-0.

Juba was fourth in the long jump with a leap of 17-9 while Eckles finished fifth with a mark of 17-8.5.

BEA Indoor Invite

The Blue Earth Area Buccaneers had a scheduled outdoor meet at St. James canceled last week on April 1, but were still able to host the Buc Indoor Meet at Minnesota State – Mankato on April 4. In addition to the Bucs, the other teams competing were Janesville-Waldorf-Pemperton, St. James and Waterville-Elysian-Morristown.

Girls Results

JWP finished in first place with 77 points, St. James was second with 45, WEM came in third with 40.5 and BEA was fourth with 37.5.

The Bucs had two girls turn in first-place performances at the meet.

Aubrey Woodwick crossed the finish line ahead of the competition to take first place in the 800-meter run with a personal-best time of 2:45.6.

The Bucs’ other first place performance came in the pole vault with Tailor Douglas clearing the bar at 8-6 to take the top spot. It was also a personal-best mark for Douglas.

Addison Smith’s personal-best mark of 4-10 in the high jump was good for a second-place finish. Sarah Dohm finish sixth in the event with a distance of 4-2.

In the long jump, Kyannah Brandt’s personal-best leap of 14-10.5 put her in third place while Rayne Schuster finished sixth with a distance of 12-8.

Sarah Dohm placed second in the triple jump when she flew through the air with a leap of 26-11.

BEA had three girls finish in the top six in the 60-meter dash. Amalia Harper was third in 8.7, Iree McKay was fourth in 8.9 and Grace Nelson was sixth in 9.1.

In the 200-meter dash, Breanna Hefner-Roggerman was fifth in 30-1 and Nelson was sixth in 31.3.

The 400-meter dash saw Emersen Weir finish in third place with a time of 73.0 and Natalie Schiltz finish sixth in 77.4.

Brandt was fourth in the 60-meter high hurdles in 11.6 and Weir was sixth in 12.4.

BEA’s 200-meter relay team of Brandt, Grace Schavey, Hefner-Roggeman and Douglas finished third in 2:02.1. Another Bucs’ team made up of Parker Stallman, Caitlin Eitzmann, McKay and Harper finished in fourth place in 2:07.43.

Woodwick, April Garcia, Schiltz and Eitzmann ran to a fifth-place finish in the 4×400-meter relay with a time of 5:04.6.

Boys results

The JWP boys captured first place with 61.5 points. BEA was the runner-up with 52.5 points, St. James was third with 44.5 and WEM was fourth with 41.5.

The Bucs had a number of boys finish in first place in their events.

Marcus Eckles was first in the 60-meter high hurdles with a time of 10.0. Finishing second in the race was Pablo Ozuna in 10.3.

Jacob Grandgenett ran a personal-best time of 7.2 to finish ahead of all the other runners in the 60-meter dash. Fellow Bucs Jose Salinas and Gage Barker tied for third place in 7.6.

Grandgenett also captured first place in the 200-meter dash when he crossed the finish line in 24.3. Caden Juba was sixth in 25.9.

The Bucs’ other first-place finish came in the high jump where Isaac Anderson cleared the bar at 6-0. Branson Hauskins finished tied for third with a mark of 5-6.

Caden Juba’s leap of 18-6.5 was good for second place in the long jump. Eckles was third in the event with a distance of 18-2.5.

In the triple jump, Ryder Stauffer was fifth with a distance of 31-5.5 and Gus Ankeny was sixth with a mark of 27-8.5.

Barker had a successful pole vault at 8-0 to finish in fifth place.

Eckles was fifth in the 400-meter dash in 61.3 and Oliver Ankeny was fourth in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:45.2.

The 4×200-meter relay team of Barker, Juba, Salinas and Grandgenett placed second with a time of 1:41.3. A second BEA team made up of Tristan Hanson, Parker Stauffer, Hayden Prestegard and Ryder Stauffer placed fourth in 1:50.6.
