Bucs fall to Saints in home tennis meet

The Bucs started their tennis season off shaky with two consecutive defeats; the first at a doubles-only tournament against St. James Area, St. Peter, and New Ulm at St. James on Saturday, April 5, and the second at their first home meet against St. Peter on Tuesday, April 8.
St. James Tournament
The St. Peter Saints served the Bucs with a definitive 5-0 defeat at their first tournament of the year in St. James on April 5.
Bucs Ryder Dutton and Devin Haase squared off against Saints Eze Ribar and Quinn Dixon in No. 1 doubles, losing in straight sets 6-2, 7-4.
Noah Hanson and Mitchell Stevermer were defeated in No. 2 doubles by Eli Stoll and Ashton Baker, losing in straight sets 6-2, 6-1.
David Batista and Nolan Hagedorn were defeated in No. 3 doubles by Roy Hendrickson and Kaiser Hagen, losing in straight sets 6-3, 6-2.
Eli Goshorn and Connor Hoerth were defeated in No. 4 doubles by Levi Gilbertson and Jerry Soderland, losing in straight sets 6-0, 6-0.
Devin Reeves and Caleb Goshorn were defeated in No. 5 doubles by Jaxon Schaefer and Brayden Rothenberger, losing in straight sets 6-0, 6-0.
The Bucs found better success against St. James Area and New Ulm, though they were ultimately defeated 4-1 by both teams. However, three of the five matches against New Ulm went into tiebreaker sets.
Dutton and Haase rallied to victory against St. James Area’s Andrei Rivera and Rylan Meyer in No. 1 doubles in three sets, 1-6, 6-4, 10-8.
Hanson and Stevermer were defeated in No. 2 doubles by Dylan Reid and Caleb Fast, losing in straight sets 6-1, 7-3.
Bautista and Hagedorn were defeated in No. 3 doubles by Cohen Danhoff and Noah Siver, losing in straight sets 6-1, 6-4.
Eli Goshorn and Hoerth were defeated in No. 4 doubles by Xander Brown and Tristan Snores, losing in straight sets 6-2, 6-3.
Reeves and Caleb Goshorn were defeated in No. 5 doubles by Nat Ciske and Feco Pantoj Saovic, losing in straight sets 6-2, 6-3.
Against the New Ulm Eagles, Dutton and Haase fought hard against Charlie Wiedman and Dan Brownfield in No. 1 doubles, ultimately losing 6-4, 6-2, 10-4.
Hanson and Stevermer were defeated in No. 2 doubles by Ian Schotzko and Isaac Diltmer, losing in straight sets 6-0, 7-5.
Bautista and Hagedorn were defeated in No. 3 doubles by Eli Dorshner and Nico Del Castillo Diez, losing in straight sets 6-2, 6-1.
Eli Goshorn and Hoerth were defeated in No. 4 doubles by Wyatt Feucht and Thomas Lehne, losing in straight sets 6-0, 6-1.
Reeves and Caleb Goshorn overcame Phoenix Black and Isaiah Correa in No. 5 doubles in three sets, winning 8-6, 4-6, 10-5.
Home Meet vs. St. Peter
The Saints brought the fight directly to the Bucs, dealing the BEA boys a crushing 7-0 defeat at their first home meet of the season on April 8.
Dutton faced off against Eze Ribar in No. 1 singles, losing in straight sets 6-2, 6-2.
Haase lost to Quinn Dixon in No. 2 singles, losing in straight sets 7-5, 6-1.
Hanson lost to Jaxon Schaefer in No. 3 singles, losing in straight sets 6-4, 6-0.
Stevermer lost to Brayden Rothenberger in No. 4 singles, losing in straight sets 6-3, 7-2.
Bautista and Hagedorn were defeated in No. 1 doubles by Eli Stoll and Ashton Baker, losing in straight sets 6-1, 6-1.

The Bucs competed in their second match of the season against Waseca at a home meet on Friday, April 11.
Their next match will be a home meet against St. James Area on Tuesday, April 15.
