USC baseball team goes 1-1 for the week

Drew Bullerman collected four hits in four at bats, but the United South Central Rebels lost to Maple River 9-3 on Saturday, April 5 . Bullerman singled in the first inning, doubled in the third inning, singled in the fifth inning, and singled in the seventh inning.

The USC Rebels lost despite out-hitting Maple River 10 to six.

Maple River got on the board in the top of the first inning after Wyatt Birr walked, and USC committed an error.

Bullerman singled to the left side of the infield on an 0-2 count, which helped the Rebels tie the game at two in the bottom of the first.

A dropped third strike gave Maple River the lead, 3-2, in the top of the second.

Maple River scored five runs on one hit in the top of the third inning. Hayden Fox was struck by a pitch, driving in a run, Caleb Thompson was struck by a pitch, driving in a run, Gavin Halvorson drew a walk, scoring one run, and Jackson Vait singled, scoring two runs.

Thompson earned the win for Maple River. The Eagle pitcher allowed seven hits and three runs over four and one-third innings, striking out seven and walking two. Mitchell Meyer pitched three and one-third innings in relief for USC. The reliever allowed two hits and zero runs while striking out three and walking none. Mason Atchley took the loss for the Rebels. The pitcher went two and one-third innings, giving up four runs (two earned) on one hit, striking out three and walking four.

USC amassed 10 hits in the game. Atchley and Mason Haugh each collected multiple hits for the Rebels.

Thompson, Vait, Birr, Fox, Carter Eichhorn, and Carson Urban each collected one hit for Maple River. Thompson and Vait each drove in two runs for Maple River. Maple River worked the count all day, piling up six walks. Maple River stole four bases in the game. Maple River was sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error.

USC 4, A-C/G-E 0

The United South Central Rebels shut out Alden-Conger/Glenville-Emmons 4-0 on Thursday, April 3.

Aiden Crabtree earned the win for the Rebels. The pitcher allowed one hit and zero runs over seven innings, striking out nine and walking none.

Mason Atchley provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led USC with two runs batted in. The infielder went 1-for-2 on the day. Seth Kayser, Kolt Bullerman, Mason Haugh, and Atchley each collected one hit for the Rebels.

USC had a strong showing at the plate, piling up 10 walks for the game. Mitchell Meyer, Crabtree, and Atchley led the team with two walks each. Meyer, Kayser, Avery Crawford, Bullerman, and Haugh each stole multiple bases for the Rebels.

USC stole 13 bases in the game. The Rebels didn’t commit a single error in the field. Drew Bullerman had the most chances in the field with nine.
