BEA boys finish second at St. Peter

Both golf teams defeat Windom Area at Minn-Iowa Golf Course

The Blue Earth Area boys golf team finished second in the 10-team St. Peter Invitational held at Shoreland Country Club on Tuesday, April 29.

The St. Peter Blue team won the team portion of the tournament with a 45-over-par score of 321. BEA’s runner-up total was a 52-over-par score of 328.

Waseca placed third with 333, New Ulm was fourth with 336, Le Sueur-Henderson took fifth with 338, Redwood Valley was sixth with 340, Kasson-Mantorville finished seventh with 352, St. Peter White was eighth with 368, Jackson County Central was ninth with 375 and Fairmont finished 10th with 377.

The medalist for the tournament was Zachary Wilson of Redwood Valley who finished with a five-over-par score of 74 on the 18-hole course.

BEA’s top golfer for the day was Jackson Blondin who finished in fifth place with a 10-over-par score of 79, just five shots behind Wilson.

Blondin had a birdie on hole No. 12 and pars on hole Nos. 2, 3, 5, 13, 16, 17 and 18.

The Bucs’ next best score came from Manny Granillo who finished in a three-way tie for seventh place with a 12-over-par score of 81.

Granillo birdied hole Nos. 1 and 17 and recorded pars on hole Nos. 2, 6, 7, 9, 11 and 16.

Cole Becker provided BEA with their third score with a 13-over-par score of 82 which put him in a four-way-tie for 10th place.

Becker birdied the sixth hole and parred hole Nos. 2, 3, 5, 8, 11, 5, 16 and 17.

Eli Blagg provided the Bucs’ final score for the team total with a 17-over-par score of 86 which tied him with three other golfers for 18th place.

Blagg parred hole Nos. 2, 7, 9, 13 and 16.

BEA’s Hunter Viland finished in a two-way tie for 24th place with an 88. He parred hole Nos. 2, 3, 7 and 16.

Cole Beyer finished with a 104 and tied for 54th place.

Windom Area

The Blue Earth Area golf teams played host to the Windom Area Eagles at Minn-Iowa Golf Club on Friday, April 25.

Girls Results

Windom Area’s Ada Lund claimed individual medalist honors by one stroke over BEA’s Katelyn Storbeck but the Bucs won the team portion of the meet by 25 strokes with a 59-over-par score of 207 to best the Eagles’ 84-over-par score of 232.

Lund finished with a nine-over-par score of 46 while Storbeck carded a 10-over-par score of 47. Storbeck had three pars on the day which were on the second, third and fourth holes.

Madison Ehrich finished in third place with a score of 52. She parred the seventh hole during her round.

Rounding out the team scores for the Bucs were McKinley Hanson and Hailey Hanson who finished with identical scores of 54 to tie for fourth place with Ali Lund of the Eagles.

McKinley Hanson had a par on hole No. 7.

Avery Blair of BEA was seventh with a 58 and Haedyn Cole was eighth with a 62.

Boys Results

BEA’s Jackson Blondin and Cole Becker tied for medalist honors to help lead the Bucs to a 158-177 victory over the Eagles.

BEA’s score was 14 strokes-over-par while the Eagles finished 33 strokes over par during the nine-hole meet.

Four of the top five scores were recorded by Buccaneer golfers with Blondin and Becker each recording one-over-par scores of 37.

Blondin started out his round with an eagle on hole No. 1. He parred hole Nos. 2, 3, 4, 7, 8 and 9.

Becker had birdies on the third and eighth holes and parred the first, second, fourth and sixth holes.

Windom Area’s top golfer for the day was Landon Pillatzki who finished in third place with a two-over-par score of 38.

Hunter Viland and Manny Granillo were the other two BEA golfers to contribute to the Bucs’ team score.

The duo each recorded six-over-par scores of 42 to finish in a tie for fourth place.

Viland birdied the first hole and parred the third, sixth and seventh holes.

Granillo had four pars during his round. They occurred on hole Nos. 2, 3, 4 and 9.

The Bucs’ Eli Blagg finished in sixth place with a seven-over-par score of 43. Blagg had five pars. They were on the first, third, fourth, fifth and ninth holes.

Finishing in ninth place was Cole Beyer with a 13-over-par score of 49.
