Local teams battle at True Team Meet
BEA boys and girls each place 10th
BEA’s Isaac Anderson, above, cleared the bar in the high jump at a height of six feet at the Section 2A True Team Track Meet in Wells, on May 6.
The Section 2A True Team Track Meet was held at United South Central High School on Tuesday, May 6.
Blue Earth Area was one of 13 teams competing for the chance to represent Section 2A at the State True Team Track Meet.
Boys Results
In what turned out to be a very close contest, Maple River edged Jackson County Central by four points, 638-634 to win the title for the boys. Lake Crystal-Wellcome Memorial/Nicollet finished third with 620.5 points. Blue Earth Area placed 10th with 372.5 points.
The Bucs’ top performer in the 100-meter dash was Jacob Grandgenett with a fourth-place finish. His time was 11:48.
Grandgenett finished fifth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 23.63.
Sam Bell had BEA’s best time in the 400-meter dash. He finished 20th with a time of 1.00.79.
Oliver Ankeny finished 22nd in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:35.86.
Ankeny’s time of 5:59.81 in the 1600-meter run put him in 22nd place.
Gibson Haase finished 23rd in the 3200-meter run with a time of 14:42.50.
Marcus Eckles finished 12th in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 17.72.
Eckles finished fifth in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 44.43.
BEA’s 4×100-meter relay team of Jose Salinas, Gage Barker, Caden Juba and Grandgenett finished in fifth place with a time of 46.85.
In the 4×200-meter relay, BEA’s team of Tristan Hanson, Parker Stauffer, Branson Hauskins and Isaac Anderson finished 11th in 1:46.31.
Juba, Ankeny, Hayden Prestegard and Eckles ran the 4×400-meter relay in 3:55.01 to finish in eighth place.
Chase Gambell finished fifth in the shot put with a toss of 40-4.5.
Gambell’s throw of 93-8 in the discus put him in 16th place.
Anderson finished second in the high jump by clearing the bar at 6-0.
Barker was 19th in the pole vault at a height of 8-0.
Hauskins was 17th in the long jump with a leap of 17-3.
Juba’s leap of 34-0.5 in the triple jump was good for 14th place.
Girls Results
Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton finished in first place with a total of 657 points. The runner-up was St. Clair/Immanuel Lutheran with 621.5 points and River Valley finished third with 578.5 points. Blue Earth Area was 10th with 354 points.
Breanna Hefner-Roggeman was 13th in the 100-meter dash with a time of 13.98. She was 14th in the 200-meter dash in 29.03.
Caitlin Eitzmann was BEA’s top finisher in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:08.95.
In the 800-meter run, Sidney Eitzmann crossed the finish line in 2:45.41 to finish in 12th place.
Makayla Ankeny’s time of 7:23.02 was good for 19th place in the 1600-meter run.
Sakura Harding finished 22nd in the 3200-meter run with a time of 18:23.59.
Kyannah Brandt completed the 100-meter hurdles in 19.96 to finish 17th.
Emersen Weir’s time of 58.09 in the 300-meter hurdles put her in 18th place.
The 4×100-meter relay team of Taylynn Amundson, Aaliyah Worden, Mikayla Becker and Grace Nelson finished 12th with a time of 59:49.
In the 4×200-meter relay, Brandt, Grace Schavey, Nelson and Hefner-Roggeman finished 11th with a time of 1:59.94.
Aubrey Woodwick, Sidney Eitzmann, Caitlin Eitzmann and Weir finished 10th in the 4×400-relay with a time of 4:42.42. The same set of girls finished third in the 4×800-meter relay with a time of 11:07.84.
Taylor Ripley had a sixth-place finish in the shot put with a distance of 31-11.75.
Anna Mwangi was the Bucs’ top finisher in the discus with a distance of 87-7.
Addison Smith finished 10th in the high jump when she cleared the bar at a height of 4-6.
Tailor Douglas was fifth in the pole vault with a height of 8-6.
Brandt’s leap of 14-10 in the long jump was good for ninth place.
In the triple jump, Sidney Eitzmann covered a distance of 30-3.5 to finish in eighth place.
Sentinel Relays
The 2025 edition of the Fairmont Sentinel Relays was held at the Bob Bonk Track in Fairmont on Friday, May 2.
Eight teams competed in the large school portion of the meet and another eight teams competed in the small school part of the contest.
Blue Earth Area competed against the large schools.
Boys Results
Fairmont, with 174 points, captured first place by 59 points over second-place Jackson County Central who totaled 115 points. Lake Crystal-Wellcome Memorial/Nicollet was third with 101 points, Hutchinson was fourth with 60, BEA finished fifth with 60, Minneapolis South was sixth with 52, River Valley was seventh with 51 and St. James-Madelia was eighth with 49.5.
Jacob Grandgenett was fourth and Jose Salinas placed fifth in the 100-meter dash. Grandgenett’s time was 11.73 and Salinas had a time of 11.92.
Grandgennet was second in the 200-meter dash with a time of 23.81.
In the 110-meter high hurdles, Marcus Eckles crossed the finish line in third place with a time of 16.75.
Eckles placed second in the 300-meter low hurdles in 43.35.
The 4×100-meter relay team of Gage Barker, Caden Juba, Salinas and Grandgenett finished in fourth place with a time of 47.46.
Barker, Juba, Ryder Stauffer and Salinas had a time of 1:41.06 in the 4×200-meter relay to finish in fifth place.
Isaac Anderson’s jump of 5-10 gave him second place in the high jump.
Girls Results
Fairmont claimed the top spot among the large schools with 168.5 points. River Valley was the runner-up with 112.5, JCC was third with 102, Hutchinson finished fourth with 91.5, St. James-Madelia placed fifth with 69, Minneapolis South came in sixth with 57, LCWM/N was seventh with 54.5 and BEA was eighth with 43.
Kyannah Brandt, Taylynn Amundson, Mikayla Becker and Breanna Hefner-Roggeman teamed up to run the 4×100-meter relay in 56.26 to finish in sixth place.
Brandt, Grace Schavey, Grace Nelson and Hefner-Roggeman finished sixth in the 4×200-meter relay with a time of 1:59.77.
Aubrey Woodwick, Sidney Eitzmann, Caitlin Eitzmann and Emersen Weir ran the 4×400-meter relay in 4:37.22 to finish in fourth place. The same four girls also competed in the 4×800-meter relay and finished fourth in 11:14.83.
Taylor Ripley’s toss of 29-3 was good for fifth place in the shot put.
Tailor Douglas finished first place in the pole vault at a height of 8-6.
Sarah Dohm was third in the triple jump with a distance of 30-06.25 and Sidney Eitzmann was fifth with a distance of 29-9.
