USC comes up short in 5-1 loss to JWP

Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton held United South Central to only one run on their way to a 5-1 victory over the Rebels in baseball action at Thompson Park on Tuesday, May 13.
USC’s Aiden Crabtree went all seven innings and gave up five runs (two earned) while allowing six hits and striking out six Bulldog batters. Crabtree did not issue any walks.
The Rebels’ offense was led by Kolt Bullerman with two hits in three trips to the plate. Catcher Drew Bullerman was 1-for-3 with one run batted in.
USC’s overall record now stands at 8-10. They are 4-4 in the Gopher Conference.
USC 6, MCW 3
The United South Central Rebels bested the Martin County West Mavericks 6-3 on Saturday, May 10.
USC got on the board in the second inning after Rylan Clay drew a walk, scoring one run.
MCW came back and tied the game in the fourth. But the Rebels came back and took the lead in the bottom of the fourth inning after Martin County West committed an error. Zayden Schott singled to center field, Mason Haugh singled down the left field line, and Schott scored after tagging up, each scoring one run.
Riley Stevermer earned the win for USC. The starter gave up eight hits and three runs (one earned) over seven innings, striking out five and walking two. Lucas Larson took the loss for Martin County West.
Mason Atchley and Seth Kayser each collected two hits for the Rebels. Atchley, Schott, Kolt Bullerman, and Haugh each drove in one run for USC. The Rebels had patience at the plate, amassing seven walks for the game. Aiden Crabtree and Haugh led the team with two free passes each. Clay, Drew Bullerman, Kayser, and Haugh each stole multiple bases with the Rebels amassing 12 stolen bases for the game.
St. James 8, USC 7
The United South Central Rebels could not hold onto the lead against St. James on Saturday, May 10 and fell 8-7 despite leading by five runs at one point.
St. James got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after a walk and a passed ball, each scoring one run.
USC flipped the game on its head in the top of the second, scoring seven runs on six hits to take the lead, 7-2. The biggest blow in the inning was a bases loaded triple by Kolt Bullerman that drove in three. Mason Atchley followed suit with a no-doubt two run home run over the right field fence.
St. James jumped into the lead in the bottom of the fourth when an error scored one run, and a home run scored two runs.
Mitchell Meyer took the loss for United South Central. The righty went three and two-thirds innings, surrendering eight runs (four earned) on seven hits, striking out three and walking two.
Kolt Bullerman went 2-for-4 at the plate and led the team with three runs batted in. Drew Bullerman had two hits in three trips to the plate for the Rebels.
Hayfield 8, USC 2
The United South Central Rebel baseball team lost 8-2 to the Hayfield Vikings in a game played on Thursday, May 8. The loss came despite the fact that the hits were close, with Hayfield having seven and USC six.
Hayfield scored two runs in both the second and third innings, then four runs in the fifth on their way to the win.
The Rebels scored one run in the fifth and another one in the sixth.
Getting hits for the Rebels was Seth Kayser, who got a double, and Kolt Bullerman, Mitch Atchley, Aiden Crawford and Rylan Clay with singles.
Aiden Crabtree took the loss for the Rebels, allowing the eight runs on the seven hits, walking one and striking out four.
USC had six errors and the Vikings had none.
