Anderson’s ninth-inning homer gives Rebels 1-0 win over Randolph

Mariah Anderson shows her intensity while pitching against Randolph in a battle of top-ranked, undefeated teams.
The United South Central softball team exploded for seven runs in the sixth inning on their way to a blow out 10-0 win over the Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton Bulldogs on Tuesday, May 13.
The game was scoreless through the first three innings until the Rebels scored one run in the fourth inning. After a scoreless fifth inning the USC team got the seven runs in the sixth and added two more in the seventh.
USC out hit JWP 12-0. Alivia Bruegger led the way going 3 for 5 at the plate including a triple.
Mariah Anderson, Olivia Bungum and Taylor Schroeder each had two hits, with Bungum hitting two doubles and Schroeder one two-bagger.
Lilly Lutteke, Ivy O’Rourke and Brylee Neubauer each had one hit.
Anderson pitched all seven innings for the Rebels and gave up no hits or runs. She walked one batter and struck out 19 Bulldog batters.
Ryleigh Donner pitched five and 2/3 innings for JWP and gave up three runs, all earned, eight hits, no walks and had two strikeouts. Claire Loeffler pitched one and 1/3 innings and gave up seven runs, six earned, on four hits, walked four and struck out none.
USC 1, Randolph 0

Just six days after United South Central softball pitcher Mariah Anderson won a game by hitting a walk off, game winning home run, she did it again.
This time it was against the state-ranked Randolph Rockets in a game played in Wells on Monday, May 12.
Neither team had scored in the first seven innings, sending the game into extra innings.
Finally, in the bottom of the ninth inning, Anderson knocked out a long ball that the outfielder could not get to, and it went to the fence.
Meanwhile, Anderson rounded the bases and headed for home. There was a play at the plate, and she was declared safe by the ump and the USC Rebels won 1-0. They remain unbeaten for the season.
Anderson and the Randolph pitcher, Carter Raymond, had quite a pitcher’s duel.
USC’s Anderson pitched nine innings and gave up no runs and four hits, walked three (a couple intentionally) and struck out 19. Randolph’s Raymond gave up the one run on just three hits (one being the homer), walked no one and struck out 13.
Randolph had their chances as they stranded nine base runners. The Rebels left three on base.
Both teams had a player hit a double in the game. For the Rebels it was Olivia Bungum. Taylor Schroeder was the other Rebel to get a hit, a single.
USC 15, Madelia 0
The United South Central softball Rebels had another terrific game, shutting out the Madelia Tigers by a score of 15-0, on Friday, May 9.
USC scored four runs in the first inning, two in the second, six in the third and three in the fourth on their way to the big win.
Pitcher Mariah Anderson had a perfect game allowing no runs, no hits, no walks and striking out 10 batters in her four innings on the mound.
Madelia pitcher Addie Odegard took the loss, allowing the 15 runs, all earned, on 15 hits, walking five and striking out four.
Every Rebel player got on base, either with a hit or a walk.
Anderson, Olivia Bungum, Taylor Schroeder, Lilly Lutteke and Ivy O’Rourke each had two hits, and Addie Mithun, Alivia Bruegger, Brylee Neubauer, Carissa Hanson and Hannah Niebuhr each had one hit.
Schroeder had a double and Bungum had two doubles. Bruegger had a triple and Anderson’s two hits were both triples.
USC 6, Hayfield 1
The United South Central softball team got three runs in the first inning and never looked back on their way to a 6-1 win over Hayfield on Thursday, May 8.
The Rebels added one run in the third inning and two more in the sixth. Hayfield got their one run i the top of the fourth inning.
Mariah Anderson, Ivy O’Rourke, Taylor Schroeder, Olivia Bungum and Alivia Bruegger each had two hits, with Anderson knocking out a double for one of her hits.
Carissa Hanson and Hannah Niebuhr each had one hit, as the Rebels outhit the Vikings 12-2.
Anderson was the winning pitcher, allowing the one run on two hits, walking three batters and striking out 18.
Elaina Masching pitched for Hayfield and gave up the six runs, four earned, on 12 hits and walked one and struck out three Rebel batters.
