Bucs’ tennis team loses to SW Christian

A tumultuous season of tennis comes to a close for the Blue Earth Area Bucs, who lost 6-1 against the Southwest Christian Stars at the section team quarterfinals meet in Chaska on Wednesday, May 14 before traveling to Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter for the first round of section individuals on Wednesday, May 21.

Section Individuals

The Bucs faced stiff competition at section individuals on Wednesday, May 21, with only one athlete, freshman Ryder Dutton, making it past their first match.

Buc Devin Haase was defeated in singles by Holy Family Catholic’s Akilliez Akradi, losing 6-1, 6-0.

Ryder Dutton defeated Fairmont’s Lillian Ortega in singles 6-0, 6-0, but was knocked out in his second match by Southwest Christian’s Mateo Schneibel, losing 6-1, 6-2.

David Bautista and Nolan Hagedorn were defeated in doubles by St. Peter’s Ezekiel Ribar and Quinn Dixon, losing 6-0, 6-2.

Mitchell Stevermer and Noah Hanson were defeated in doubles by St. James’ Cohen Danhoff and Caleb Fast, losing 6-2, 6-1.

SWC 6, BEA 1

The Southwest Christian Stars trounced the BEA Bucs at section team quarterfinals on Wednesday, May 14, whose season came to an end with a 6-1 defeat.

Freshman Ruder Dutton was the only Buc to defeat his opponent, winning against Star Mateo Schneibel in No. 1 singles 6-4, 6-3.

Eli Goshorn was defeated in No. 2 singles by Brock Walmer, losing 6-0, 6-0.

Connor Hoerth was defeated in No. 3 singles by Davis Wurst, losing 6-0, 6-0.

Joseph Bautista was defeated in No. 4 singles by Isaac Wilson, losing 6-0, 6-0.

Devin Haase and Noah Hanson were defeated in No. 1 doubles by Cameron Thomas and Evan Johnson, losing in straight sets 6-1, 6-4.

David Bautista and Mitchell Stevermer were defeated in No. 2 doubles by Landon Johnson and Wade Ganske, losing in straight sets 6-2, 6-1.

Nolan Hagedorn and Caleb Goshorn were defeated in No. 3 doubles by Drew Denton and Brody Uqlum, losing in straight sets 6-0, 6-0.
