BEA and USC/A-C track athletes will compete at Mankato West

BEA’s Sarah Dohm qualified for the Section 2A Track Meet next weekend in the triple jump.

The track teams from Blue Earth Area and United South Central/Alden-Conger competed in the Section 2A South Sub-Section Track Meet held in Wells on Thursday, May 22. The top eight individuals and the top four relay teams in each event qualified for the Section 2A Meet which will be held at Mankato West High School on May 31.

Boy Qualifiers for

BEA and USC/A-C

The Bucs had two athletes qualify in the 100-meter dash. Jacob Grandgenett finished first with a time of 11.55 and Jose Salinas was eighth in 11.87.

Grandgenett and USC/A-C’s Alexis Arguijo each qualified in the 200-meter dash. Grandgenett was fourth in 23.32 and Arguijo was eighth in 25.00.

Maxwell Schull of the Rebels finished third in the 400-meter dash to qualify for the Section 2AA Meet. His time was 54.52.

USC/A-C’s Laiken Farris completed the 3200-meter run in 11:17.68 to finish in seventh place.

The Bucs and Rebels had four of the top eight times in the 110-meter hurdles. USC/A-C’s Brant Blosser took first place with a time of 14.96. His teammate Isaac Hartman was fifth in 16.49. BEA’s Marcus Eckles was seventh in 16.95 and the Rebels’ Jayden Barnick was eighth in 17:31.

The two Faribault County schools had four of the top five times in the 300-meter hurdles. Eckles finished in second place with a time of 43.12. Hartman was third in 43.37. USC/A-C’s Jace Ignaszewski was fourth in 43.82 and Blosser was fifth in 44.92.

Neither school qualified any teams in the boys relay events.

In the shot put, the Rebels’ Henry Beaver placed seventh with a toss of 41-04.75 and the Bucs’ Chase Gambell was eighth with a distance of 40-00.50.

USC/A-C’s Ezra Edwards had a throw of 136-10 in the discus to finish in second place.

Jayden Barnick of the Rebels finished third in the high jump with a mark of 5-10.

USC/A-C’s Joshua Brooks qualified in the pole vault when he cleared the bar at a height of 10-03 to finish in seventh place.

The Rebels’ Angel Dejesus placed fourth in the long jump with a leap of 19-03.5.

Maple River placed first in the team scoring for the boys with 128 points. USC/A-C finished fifth with 71 points and BEA was ninth with 33. A total of 12 teams participated in the meet.

Girl Qualifiers for

BEA and USC/A-C

Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton won the meet for the girls with 124.5 points. BEA was seventh with 41 points and USC/A-C was eighth with 38.

BEA’s Breanna Hefner-Roggeman advanced to the Section Meet with an eighth-place finish in the 100-meter dash with a time of 13.89.

USC/A-C’s Danyelle Dickson advanced in both the 200 and 400-meter dashes. She placed third in the 200-meter dash with a time of 28.04 and was fourth in the 400-meter dash in 1:04.99.

The Bucs had two runners qualify in the 800-meter run. Emersen Weir crossed the finish line in 2:35.19 to finish in third place and Aubrey Woodwick’s time of 2:44.17 was good for sixth place.

Alexis Guenther of the Rebels finished eighth in the 1600-meter run with a time of 6:00.19.

USC/A-C had three athletes finish in the top eight in the 100-meter hurdles. Sydney Sauke was fourth with a time of 17.69, Madison Passer was fifth in 17.71 and Chloe Bullerman was eighth in 18.44.

Bullerman also qualified in the 300-meter hurdles with a second-place finish. Her time was 52.54.

The Bucs had the only relay team to move on to the Section 2AA Meet. The 4×800-meter relay team of Woodwick, Sidney Eitzmann, Caitlin Eitzmann and Weir finished in third place with a time of 10:55.09.

BEA’s Taylor Ripley qualified in the shot put with a fourth-place toss of 32-02.75.

Tailor Douglas of the Bucs cleared the bar in the pole vault at a height of 9-00 to finish in fourth place.

BEA’s Kyannah Brandt leaped to a fourth-place finish in the long jump with a distance of 15-04.

Two area athletes qualified to move on in the triple jump. USC/A-C’s Sauke had the fourth-best distance at 31-01.25 while BEA’s Sarah Dohm was sixth with a mark of 30-07.25.
