The United South Central Rebels faced off against a slate of new opponents when they traveled to Mankato East for a quad tournament against Mankato East, Mankato West, and Marshall on Friday, Aug. 29.

Marshall 4, USC 3

The Marshall Tigers provided the Rebels with the closest match of the day, but ultimately defeated them 4-3 at the quad tournament on Friday, Aug. 29.

Rebel Ivy O’Rourke defeated Tiger Brooklyn Mauch in No. 1 singles, winning 7-6, 3-1.

Elise Hanson was defeated by Kathryn Coudron in No. 2 singles, losing 6-3, 6-0.

Brooke Huper was defeated by Kyra Bailey in No. 3 singles, losing 6-4, 3-6, 10-4.

Gretchen Bungum was defeated by Cora Medina in No. 4 singles, losing 6-0, 6-1.

Olivia Bungum and Caitlin Rheingans defeated Emry Weller and Jazilyn Steinberg-Jones in No. 1 doubles, winning 6-2, 6-4.

Kylee Koziolek and Julianna Clore held on to defeat Emry Jans and Julia Pafko in No. 2 doubles, winning 2-6, 6-1, 10-7.

Claire Schimeck and Tori Stevermer were defeated by Peyton DeMuth and Emerson DeMuth in No. 3 doubles, losing 6-3, 6-1.

USC 5, Mankato West 2

The Rebels prevailed over the Mankato West Scarlets, defeating them 5-2 at the quad tournament on Friday, Aug. 29.

Rebel Ivy O’Rourke defeated Scarlet Claire Koering in No. 1 singles, winning 6-1, 6-2.

Olivia Bungum defeated Maleah Giesen in No. 2 singles, winning 6-1, 6-2.

Brooke Huper fought hard, but was ultimately defeated by Sage Matteson in No. 3 singles. Matteson won 6-7, 6-4, 10-3.

Tori Stevermer was defeated by Stella Schweim in No. 4 singles, losing 6-3, 6-0.

Caitlin Rheingans and Elise Hanson held on to defeat Monir McCabe and Claire Heimer in No. 1 doubles, winning 6-2, 4-6, 11-9.

Kylee Koziolek and Julianna Clore defeated Neva Bohl and Scarlett Cordes in No. 2 doubles, winning 6-3, 6-4.

Claire Schimeck and Gretchen Bungum defeated Avery Freed and Claire Niederegger in No. 3 doubles, winning 6-2, 6-3.

Mankato East 6, USC 1

The Rebels faced their biggest challenge of the tournament against the Mankato East Cougars, ultimately losing 6-1 at the quad tournament on Friday, Aug. 29.

Rebel Elise Hanson was defeated by Cougar Sam Williams in No. 1 singles, losing 6-0, 6-0.

Gretchen Bungum was defeated by Autumn Gaul in No. 2 singles, losing 6-0, 6-0.

Brooke Huper was defeated by August Beltz in No. 3 singles, losing 6-0, 6-1.

Tori Stevermer was defeated by Lexi Mock in No. 4 singles, losing 6-2, 6-3.

Olivia Bungum and Ivy O’Rourke teamed up to defeat Hannah Westman and Ashlyn Rigdon in No. 1 doubles, winning 7-5, 2-6, 10-3.

Julianna Clore and Caitlin Rheingans were defeated by Emily Hacker and Amelia Hacker in No. 2 doubles, losing 6-3, 1-6, 10-5.

Kylee Koziolek and Claire Schimeck were defeated by Aissa Johanson Sebera and Halee Sadaka in No. 3 doubles, losing 6-3, 6-1.
