USC’s Noah Gonzalez (25) stiff-arms a would-be Tracy-Milroy-Balaton tackler on his way to a big gain during the Rebels’ 34-0 victory over the Panthers on Sept. 5, in Wells.

Total domination.

The United South Central Rebels football team bounced back from a loss in their opening game of the season, to take a big 34-0 win over the Tracy-Milroy-Balaton Panthers on Friday night, Sept. 5 at home.

The Rebels dominated the field as well as nearly every statistic tallied at the end of the game.

USC came up with 61 plays to TMB’s 31, and had 34:06 time of possession to their 13:54. Total yards of offense were 397 for the Rebels and 67 for the Panthers.

USC scored six points in the first quarter, eight in the second, 12 in the third and eight in the fourth.

In the first quarter, Gavin Bird scored a touchdown on a two-yard run that came at the end of a six play, 61-yard drive. The pass for the extra point was incomplete.

In the second quarter it was Noah Gonzalez who scored a two-yard touchdown after a big 36-yard gain. Gonzalez also ran the ball in for the two-point conversion making the score 14-0 at the half.

The Rebel’s first third quarter score came on a five-yard run by Shaune Petersen. It came at the end of a 13-play, 85-yard drive. The pass attempt for extra point was incomplete.

Later in the third quarter it was Rebel quarterback Kolt Bullerman who scored on a 19-yard run. That completed an eight-play, 58-yard drive. The try for a two-point conversion failed.

In the final quarter the Rebels scored a touchdown after gaining 42 yards in just two plays. The second play was a 37-yard touchdown run by Brayden Mithun. Mithun also caught a pass from Bullerman to get the two-point conversion.

That made the final 34-0.

Bullerman was just 1 for 5 passing and that completion was a 16-yard pass to Mithun. TMB had slightly more, but still just 20 yards passing in the game.

But it was on the ground that the Rebels excelled. They outgained the Panthers 381 yards rushing to 47.

Gonzalez led the way with 132 yards gained on the ground on 15 carries. Peterson had 82 yards on 10 totes, while Bullerman had 67 on nine attempts.

Mithun had 37 yards on his one attempt, Bird had 31 on 12 tries, Josey Schroeder 13 on two attempts, and Jace Ignaszewski ran the ball once for 11 yards.

Both teams were three and out on their first possessions of the ball, and had to punt. But that was the only punt of the game for the Rebels while the Panthers were forced to punt the ball away six more times in the game.

TMB’s other two drives ended with an interception and a lost fumble. USC also had two drives end with an interception.

Next up for the Rebels was a game at Hayfield on Friday, Sept. 12. Details on that game will be in the next Faribault County Register.

This week the USC will be playing in a Saturday game on Sept. 20, at 7 p.m., at home against Fillmore Central.
