The United South Central Rebels’ football team learned first hand that the Fillmore Central Falcons do indeed have a good team this year.

The Rebels lost to the Falcons in a rare Saturday night game on Sept. 20, by a score of 37-6. The game was a home one for the Rebels.

Fillmore Central scored one touchdown in the first, third and fourth quarters, and two touchdowns in the second quarter. They led 22-0 at the end of the first half.

The Rebels’ lone touch down came early in the fourth quarter, after a long, 10-play, 82-yard drive that had started with 4:56 left in the third quarter.

The scoring play was a one yard run by Kolt Bullerman. Bullerman also carried the ball on the 2-point conversion try, but was tackled at the 2-yard line.

The Falcons’ first score was on a 67-yard pass play, and the extra point try was a successful pass for 2-points. Their second touchdown was a 15-yard pass play, but the extra point was not successful.

The Falcons scored on a 10-yard run for the next TD and on a 4-yard run for the next score.

Their final touchdown, in the fourth quarter, a 30-yard pass play, was followed by a successful pass for 2-point conversion.

Fillmore Central had a balanced attack, gaining 196 yards on the ground and 193 through the air, for a total offense of 389 yards.

USC gained 177 yards rushing and 26 passing for a total of 203 yards.

The Rebels actually ran more plays than the Falcons (51 to 41) and possessed the ball more of the time, 29:33 to 18:07.

Bullerman had one completion out of five attempts. Brayden Mithun caught that 26 yard pass.

Noah Gonzalez was the leading rusher for the Rebels, gaining 47 yards on eight carries. Bullerman was second leading rusher with 39 yards on nine carries and Gavin Bird had 33 yards gained on nine totes.

Brennan Olson ran for 13 yards on four carries and Shaune Peterson had 12 yards on five runs.

Cashton Landherr carried the ball once for seven yards, Logan Grems once for five yards and Damion Sanchez-Nailon once for four yards.

The Rebels’ next game was set for Friday, Sept. 26, at Lewiston-Altura. Details on that game will be in the next Faribault County Register.

This week the Rebels will be hosting Southland on Friday night, Oct. 3.
