Rebels to begin Section 1A play

The United South Central Rebels had a short and disappointing week of tennis, losing to Le Sueur – Henderson at a home match on Thursday, Sept. 25.

The Le Sueur – Henderson Giants handed the Rebels a crushing 5-2 defeat at their home meet on Thursday, Sept. 25.

Rebel Ivy O’Rourke bounced back to defeat Giant Sallie Nesbit in No. 1 singles, winning 4-6, 6-2, 6-4.

Olivia Bungum defeated Addison Fahey in No. 2 singles, winning 6-0, 6-1.

Claire Schimek was defeated by Libby Genelin in No. 3 singles, losing 6-2, 6-1.

Brooke Huper was defeated by Maura Krause in No. 4 singles, losing 6-0, 6-2.

Caitlin Rheingans and Elise Hansen were defeated by Carlin Straub and Teagan Graham in No. 1 doubles, losing 6-1, 6-0.

Julianna Clore and Kylee Koziolek were defeated by Ava Becker and Kiandra Straub in No. 2 doubles, losing 6-2, 6-4.

Tori Stevermer and Gretchen Bungum were defeated by Alice Breaker and Avery Lawrence in No. 3 doubles, losing 6-1, 6-4.

The Rebels begin their section playoff season as the No. 5 seed in the Class A, Section 1 Tournament in an away meet against No. 4 seed Waseca on Thursday, Oct. 2, and the 1A Individuals Tournament quarterfinals will be held at the Rochester Athletics Club on Wednesday, Oct. 8.
