Laiken Farris take fourth at No Frills Invite
The United South Central/Alden-Conger cross country teams sponsored their own No Frills Invitational Cross Country Meet on Tuesday, Oct. 7. It was held at the Oak View Golf Course near Freeborn.
USC/A-C did not have a complete team for either the boys or girls competitions, but the individual Rebel runners did well.
For the boys, Laiken Farris placed fourth with a time of 19:06.8. Riley Krohnberg was in eighth place with a time of 20:13.9.
Coming in at 21st place was Gavin Gonsalez with a time of 22:14.2, and Alexis AJ Arguijo had a time of 24:30.3.
Blooming Prairie was first at the meet with 34 points, Waterville-Elysian-Morristown was second with 37 and Medford was third with 56. Both USC/A-C and New Richland-Hartland-Ellendale-Geneva had incomplete team scores.
For the girls, Alexis Guenther ran a time of 22:29.2 and was in seventh place.
Blooming Prairie won the girls competition with a score of 27. WEM was second at 38, NRHEG was third with 78 and Medford was fourth with 100 points.
Waseca Invitational
The United South Central cross country teams participated in the Waseca Cross Country Invitational that was held on Thursday, Oct. 3, at the Waseca Lakeside Country Club.
The United South Central boys team took fifth place out of the six teams at the meet.
Faribault took first with a score of 29, Tri-City United was second at 48, WEM/JWP was third at 67, Waseca was fourth with 91 and USC was fifth with 131 points. In sixth was New Ulm with 173.
The Rebels were led by senior Laiken Farris who came in at 16th place with a time of 20:35.
The five other USC runners placed from 31st to 39th.
Sophomore Gavin Gonzalez was in 31st place with a time of 23:40, while fellow sophomore AJ Arguijo was in 32nd place with a time of 23:50. Eighth grader Fin Druckenmiller had a time of 24:10 for 35th place. Seventh graders Basil Kruse was 38th at 26:17 and Owen Gooden was 39th at 27:19.
“The junior high boys needed to run varsity at this meet,” coach Nathan Scruggs said. “And they did great.”
The lone Rebel girl participant was junior Alexis Guenther and she came in at 14th place with a time of 22:59.
“This was Lexi’s first time getting under 23 minutes this season.” coach Scruggs said. “She raced very well.”
