Bucs come up short against the Eagles
After holding Redwood Valley to 13 first-half points in 66-32 victory
The Windom Area Eagles made the most of their height advantage to outrebound Blue Earth Area by a 58-37 margin on their way to an 84-55 victory over the Bucs on Tuesday, Jan. 13, in Windom.
The Eagles held a 41-31 lead at the half and then outscored the Bucs 43-24 in the second half to seal the victory.
BEA was 7-for-29 (24.1 percent) on their shots from inside the arc and 11-for-34 (32.4 percent) from outside the arc. They attempted 18 free throws and made eight (44.4 percent).
Windom Area connected on 21 of their 47 attempts (44.7 percent) from two-point range while making nine of their 28 attempts (32.1 percent) from three-point range. They were 15-for-23 (65.2 percent) from the free-throw line.
The Bucs committed 21 turnovers compared to 18 for the Eagles.
BEA had four players reach double figures in scoring. Leading the way was Lola Lundquist with 16 points. She was followed by Myla Eastman with 14 points, Ella Swanson with 13 and Emersen Weir with 11.
Weir led the Bucs with nine rebounds, Emily Schrader had seven, Eastman had six and Madelyn Humburg finished with five. Lundquist and Eastman each had three assists and Eastman was credited with five steals.

The Blue Earth Area girls basketball team won for the third time in their last four games when they triumphed over the host Redwood Valley Cardinals 66-32.
It was a pretty even battle through the first five minutes of the game with the score tied 10-10.
BEA’s Myla Eastman broke the tie with two free throws and then Lola Lundquist sank consecutive shots from outside the arc to put the Bucs up 18-10.
In fact, the Cardinals did not score their 11th point until there was less than a minute to play in the first half. By then, the Bucs had scored 36 points and they ended up taking a 38-13 lead into the intermission.
The Maroon and Gold outscored the Cards 28-19 in the second half to head home with a 34-point victory.
As a team, BEA made 13 of their 34 attempts (38.2 percent) of their shots from inside the arc and were 9-for-19 (47.4 percent) from outside the arc. The Bucs attempted 21 free throws and made 13 (61.9 precent).
Redwood Valley was 6-for-19 (31.6 percent) from two-point range and 5-for-25 (20 percent) from three-point range. They made five out of their eight free-throw attempts (62.5 percent).
The Bucs had the advantage in rebounds by a 39-29 margin and committed 18 turnovers compared to 25 for the Cardinals.
BEA scored 22 points off turnovers while Redwood Valley scored three.
Eastman led BEA in scoring with 21 points followed by Lundquist with 14. Ella Swanson, Emersen Weir and Madelyn Humburg each scored seven points, Emily Schrader had five, Grace Schavey finished with three and Jessi James had two.
Eastman had 12 rebounds to finish with a double-double while Humburg finished with nine rebounds and Lundquist had six. Lundquist also led the team with five assists.
After hosting Pipestone Area on Jan. 16 and Maple River on Jan. 19, BEA will travel to Fairmont on Jan. 20 and to Luverne on Jan. 23.
