USC girls fall to the Triton Cobras

Rebels find the going tough against Gopher Conference opponent

The United South Central Rebel girls basketball team had another tough loss when they hosted the Triton Cobras on Thursday night, Jan. 22.

The Rebels lost by a score of 74 to 29. They were behind 45 to 21 at the end of the first half.

Ivy O’Rourke led the team with 12 points and four rebounds, with Reanna Obermeyer adding eight points and six rebounds to the team tally.

Grace Walton had four points and four rebounds. Brielle Obermeyer added three points and six rebounds.

As a team the Rebels were 5-for-26 for two-point shots (19.2 percent), 5-for-14 on their three-point tries (35.7 percent) and 4-for-8 on their free throw attempts (50 percent).

The Cobras were 27-for-50 from inside the arc (54 percent), 5-for-24 from outside the arc (20.8 percent) and 5-for-10 shooting free throws (50 percent).

The Rebels had 43 rebounds to the Cobras’ 32, eight assists to their 24, eight steals to their 27, four blocks to their one and 42 turnovers to their 12.

Next up for the Rebel girls was a game scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 29, at Blooming Prairie. This week USC will be at New Richland-Hartland-Ellendale-Geneva on Monday night, Feb. 2.
