BEA/USC gymnasts place third as a team at Section 2A Meet

The BEA/USC gymnasts pulled off a third-place finish at the Section 2A Championship meet, which was held at Mankato K & G Gymnastics on Friday, Feb. 13. Furthermore, two of the girls qualified to move on to State, with Mariah Anderson qualifying for all-around with a combined score of 38.625, and Parker Stallman qualifying for uneven bars with a score of 8.8.

Section 2A Championship

Mankato East took the top spot during the Section 2A Championship meet on Feb. 13 with a combined team score of 145.975, with cross-town rival Mankato West snagging second with a score of 143.775. BEA/USC’s score of 139.2 earned them third place overall. Martin County Area came in fourth with a score of 136.6, New Ulm was fifth with a score of 133.125, Waseca took sixth with 132.675, Faribault came in seventh with 131.7, and St. Peter was eighth with 120.025.

Mariah Anderson was the only Buc to place on vault, taking third place overall with a score of 9.675. Parker Stallman and Haedyn Cole both scored 8.65, and Brynlee Amundson scored 8.4 to bring the combined team score for vault to 35.375.

Anderson and Stallman both made it to the podium on uneven bars, with Anderson taking first overall with a score of 9.6, and Stallman coming in fifth with a score of 8.8 to earn her ticket to State. Amundson’s score of 7.475 and Cole’s score of 7.35 brought the team’s combined score to 33.225.

Anderson also took the top spot on balance beam, scoring 9.6. Kailey Boettcher placed seventh overall with a score of 8.8. Cole scored an 8.25, and Kyannah Brandt scored 7.75 for a combined team score of 34.4.

Competition was tight on floor routine, but Anderson managed to end her rotation with another first-place finish, scoring 9.75. Stallman scored 9.2, Cole scored 8.875, and Taylynn Amundson scored 8.375 for a combined team score of 36.2 on floor routine.

Anderson punched her ticket to State with a first-place finish in all-around, with a combined score of 38.625. Stallman’s combined score of 34.075 was good for ninth place, and Cole came in close behind with a score of 33.125 to earn tenth place overall.

Anderson and Stallman will travel to State competition at the Roy Wilkins Arena in St. Paul on Friday, Feb. 20. Look for these results in an upcoming edition of the Faribault County Register.
