BEA tennis team loses to Saints and Jays

The Blue Earth Area Buccaneer boys tennis team suffered back-to-back defeats on the road, losing to Waseca at their away meet on Friday, April 10 and St. James at their away meet on Tuesday, April 14.

St. James 7, BEA 0

The Bucs suffered a complete shutout at the hands of the St. James Saints, losing 7-0 at their away meet on April 14.

Buc Ryder Dutton was defeated by Saint Andrel Rivera in No. 1 singles, losing 6-4, 6-4.

Devin Haase was beaten by Rylan Meyer in No. 2 singles, losing 6-0, 6-2.

David Bautista fell to Tristan Shores in No. 3 singles 6-1, 6-0.

Eli Goshorn put up a good fight, but was defeated by Dylan Vite in No. 4 singles, losing 6-4, 6-2.

Noah Hanson and Mitchell Stevermer were bested by Caleb Fast and Nate Ciske in No. 1 doubles, losing 6-3, 6-3.

Nolan Hagedorn and Jack Bell were defeated in No. 2 doubles by Noah Sauer and Steffan Wegner, losing 6-4, 6-0.

Hayden Prestegard and Caleb Goshorn lost to Kalen Hanson and Felo Panjoj in No. 3 doubles, losing 6-2, 6-2.

Waseca 6, BEA 1

There were some very close matchups between the Buccaneers and the Waseca Bluejays, but the Bluejays flew away with a 6-1 victory over the Bucs at their away meet on April 10.

The Buc’s Ryder Dutton fought for a comeback, but was ultimately defeated by Bluejay Henry Hattmier in No. 1 singles, losing 6-4, 3-6, 11-9.

Devin Haase lost to Armaan Bhatti in No. 2 singles, losing 6-0, 6-3.

David Bautista was defeated in No. 3 singles by Keenan Collins, losing 6-1, 6-1.

Eli Goshorn was bested by Korbin Collins in No. 4 singles, losing 6-1, 6-0.

Noah Hanson and Mitchell Stevermer were the only Buc team to win their match, defeating Allan Kopetzki and Nolan McQuery in No. 1 doubles 6-3, 6-3.

Nolan Hagedorn and Jack Bell were defeated by Carson True and Bryghton Rugger in No. 2 doubles, losing 6-4, 6-2.

Hayden Prestegard and Caleb Goshorn fought hard, but were ultimately defeated by Joe Calhoun and Jesse Wobschall in No. 3 doubles, losing 6-1, 5-7, 10-4.

The Bucs’ next challenge is a rematch against St. James and their first face-off against St. Peter at a triangular tournament hosted by St. James on Saturday, April 18. Look for these results and more in a future edition of the Register.
