BEA girls finish third at St. James

Brandt sprints to victory in 100-meter dash, is second in long jump

The Blue Earth Area girls took third place while the BEA boys finished fourth at the St. James Invitational Track Meet No. 3 held on April 21.

Girls Results

Fairmont won the team competition in the five-team meet with 187 points. St. James-Madelia was the runner-up with 77 points, BEA’s third place total was 58 points, Martin County West/Butterfield Odin was fourth with 26 and Worthington placed fifth with 25.

Kyannah Brandt won the 100-meter dash with a time of 13.26 while her teammate, Amalla Harper, was fourth in 13.67.

Sidney Eitzmann had a time of 29.96 to place sixth in the 200-meter dash.

Aubrey Woodwick ran to a third-place finish in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:46.89.

In the 100-meter high hurdles, Brandt had a time of 18.6 to finish in fourth place.

BEA’s 4×100-meter relay team of Grace Nelson, Parker Stallman, Amalla Harper and Brandt finished in second place when they crossed the finish line in 53.64.

Nelson, Cassandra Hagedorn, Stallman and Harper had a time of 1:59.35 in the 4×200-meter relay to finish in second place.

It was also a second-place finish for the 4×400-meter relay team of Emersen Weir, Ella Swanson, Sidney Eitzmann and Caitlin Eitzmann who crossed the finish line in 4:36.39.

Woodwick, Weir, Swanson and Caitlin Eitzmann were the runner-ups in the 4×800-meter relay with a time of 10:45.37.

Taylor Ripley was third in the shot put with a toss of 31-1.

Caitlin Eitzmann finished in a three-way tie for second place in the high jump when she cleared the bar at a height of 4-8.

Brandt had a leap of 14-2 in the long jump to finish in second place. Stallman’s leap of 13-10 put her in fourth place.

Boys Results

Fairmont finished in first place for the boys with 175 points followed by Worthington in second place with 66. St. James-Madelia was third with 60, BEA was fourth with 40 and Martin County West/Butterfield Odin was fifth with 30.

Caden Juba was fourth in the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.14.

Marcus Eckles completed the 110-meter high hurdles in 16.46 to take first place. Pablo Ozuna was fifth in 19.03 and Henry Survis was sixth in 21.15.

Eckles finished second in the 300-meter low hurdles with a time of 44.34 while Ozuna was sixth in 47.59.

Juba, Ozuna, Gus Ankeny and Eckles ran to a third-place finish in the 4×400-meter relay with a time of 3:59.72.

Parker Stauffer was second in the shot put with a toss of 38-0. Omar Gomez was third with a mark of 36-9 and Chase Gambell was fifth with a mark of 36-4.

Dane Sohn threw the discus 104-1 to finish in fifth place.

Juba’s leap of 18-5 was good for third place in the long jump.

After hosting a track meet on Friday, April 24, the BEA track teams will travel to Lake Crystal on Tuesday, April 28. On Friday, May 1, BEA will travel to Fairmont for the Bob Bonk Invitational Track Meet.
