BEA boys place seventh at St. Peter Invite
Girls defeat Windom by 26 strokes; Storbeck earns medalist honors
Shoreland Country Club in St. Peter was the site of the St. Peter Boys Invitational Golf Tournament on Tuesday, April 28. A total of nine teams, including Blue Earth Area, took part in the 18-hole tournament.
The host team from St. Peter won the tournament with a 30-over-par score of 306. New Ulm finished in second place with a score of 314, Redwood Valley was third with 331, Fairmont tallied 342 to finish in fourth place, Waseca was fifth with 345, St. Peter No. 2 was sixth with 347, BEA finished seventh with 368, Le Sueur-Henderson placed eighth with 370 and Jackson County Central was ninth with 372.
Kade Mata from St. Peter was the medalist for the meet with a one-over-par score of 70.
BEA’s top golfer for the day was Cole Becker who finished in a tie for fifth place with an eight-over-par score of 77. Becker played the front nine at six strokes over par while shooting par on four of the holes. Becker played the back nine at two-over-par with two birdies and five pars.
Gavin Christenson carded a 91 for the Bucs to finish in a three-way tie for 29th place. He had four pars during the meet.
Nathan Casias shot a 97 to finish in a tie for 39th place. His round included six pars.
Ian Viland shot a 103 to finish in a three-way tie for 45th place. Viland’s round included two pars.
Reed Sturtz finished with a 105 while recording a birdie and a par to finish 49th and Jacob Murray had two pars while shooting a 113 to finish 52nd.
BEA vs. Windom Area
The Windom Area boys golf team got by the Blue Earth Area Bucs by 10 strokes when the two team met at the Windom Country Club on April 24.
Windom Area’s team total was 176 strokes while BEA finished with a total of 186.
The Bucs’ Cole Becker walked off the course with medalist honors after firing a four-over-par score of 40 on the nine-hole course. Becker’s score was one stroke better than the Eagles’ Henry Visker who was the runner-up with a 41. Windom Area’s Shaun Schunk was third with a 42 and the Bucs’ Gavin Christenson was fourth with a 44.
Becker had pars on the second, third, fifth, sixth and ninth holes.
Christenson parred hole Nos. 5, 7 and 9 on his way to an eight-over-par score of 44.
BEA’s Ryder Stevermer finished with a 13-over-par score of 49 to finish in ninth place. His round included a par on hole No. 2.
Nathan Casius of the Bucs finished in 10th place with a 53. Casias had a par on the fourth hole. Ian Viland had a par on the ninth hole to record a 54 and finish 11th while Reed Sturtz had a score of 67 to finish in 12th place.
Girls Results
The Blue Earth Area Buccaneers girls golf team defeated Windom Area by 26 strokes on Friday, April 24. The golf meet took place at the Windom Country Club.
BEA’s team score was a 49-over-par total of 193 while Widom Area finished with a 75-over-par score of 219.
The medalist for the meet was the Bucs’ Katelyn Storbeck who carded a three-over-par score of 39 to finish six strokes ahead of runner-up Ali Lund of the Eagles.
In nine holes of play, Storbeck birdied hole No. 5 and recorded pars on hole Nos. 2, 4, 7, 8 and 9.
The next lowest score for the Bucs came from Hailey Hanson who shot a 14-over-par score of 50 to finish in third place. Hanson had a par on the seventh hole.
Averi Blair and McKinley Hanson completed the scoring for the Bucs when they tied for fourth place with each golfer recording a 52.
Lola Lundquist finished one shot behind Blair and Hanson with a 53 to finish in sixth place. Haedyn Cole added a 56 to finish in eighth place.
