BEA girl tracksters take first at home

They finish third at Dewey Escher Invitational at Lake Crystal

Lake Crystal was the site of the Dewey Escher Invitational Track Meet on April 28. The Blue Earth Area girls finished third out of five teams competing at the meet while the BEA boys finished in fourth place.

BEA Girls Results

St. Clair/Immanuel Lutheran won the meet with a total of 133 points followed by Lake Crystal-Wellcome Memorial-Nicollet in second place with 113. Blue Earth Area’s third-place score was 65 points, United South Central/Alden-Conger was fourth with 32 and Granada-Huntley-East Chain/Truman/Martin Luther finished fifth with 28.

Caitlin Eitzmann had a first-place performance in the high jump when she cleared the bar at 4-6. Emersen Weir was third with a mark of 4-3.

Taylor Ripley’s toss of 30-11.5 in the shot put was good for second place while Ada Zieger finished fifth with a distance of 28-9.

Ripely was fourth in the discus with a throw of 83-1. Ziegler’s throw of 80-10 put her in sixth place.

Parker Stallman cleared the bar at a height of 6-6 in the pole vault to finish in fourth place.

Kyannah Brandt’s leap of 14-11.75 was good for third place in the long jump.

Mary Dohn finished fifth in the triple jump with a mark of 27-9.5.

Brandt was second in the 100-meter dash with a time of 13.35 and second in the 200-meter dash in 28.52. Breanna Hefner-Roggeman was fifth in the 200-meter dash in 29.41 and Grace Nelson was sixth in 29.74.

In the 400-meter dash, Aubrey Woodwick finished fifth with a time of 71.88.

Sakura Harding finished fifth in the 3200-meter run with a time of 18:36.32.

All four BEA relay teams finished in second place.

The 4×100-meter relay team had a time of 56.13 and was made up of Khloe McGowen, Nelson, Stallman and Hefner-Roggeman.

Hefner-Roggeman, Nelson, Sidney Eitzmann and Brandt ran the 4×200-meter relay in 1:58.07 for their second-place finish.

Weir, Sidney Eitzmann, Ella Swanson and Caitlin Eitzmann finished second in the 4×400–meter relay with a time of 4:37.5

In the 4×800-meter relay, Woodwick, Weir, Swanson and Caitlin Eitzmann had a second-place time of 10:54.93.

BEA Boys Results

Lake Crystal-Wellcome Memorial-Nicollet tallied 156 points to finish in first place ahead of second-place St. Clair/Immanuel Lutheran who had 106. United South Central/Alden-Conger was third with 59 points, Blue Earth Area finished fourth with 33 and Granada-Huntley-East Chain/Truman/Martin Luther came in sixth with 20.

Marcus Eckles had a good day competing in the hurdles. Eckles finished first in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 15.94 and third in the 300-meter low hurdles in 43.9.

Caden Juba ran to a sixth-place finish in the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.2.

Oliver Ankeny’s time of 59.92 put him in sixth place in the 400-meter dash.

The 4×100-meter relay team of Parker Stauffer, Dane Sohn, Karsyn Brandt and Omar Gomez had a time of 53.05 to place fourth. A second BEA 4×100-meter relay team of Jase Juba, Gabriel Petersen, Logan James and Hudson Prestegard came in sixth in 59.92.

In the 4×200-meter relay, Eckles, Gus Ankeny, Hayden Prestegard and Caden Juba came in third with a time of 1:45.41.

Caden Juba, Oliver Ankeny, Gus Ankeny and Hayden Prestegard had a time of 4:02.29 to finish in third place.

The 4×800-meter relay team of Oliver Ankeny, Camden Murphy, Ben Roper and Hudson Prestegard was fourth in 10:31.16.

A toss of 48-8 by Chase Gambell in the shot put was good for second place. Stauffer finished sixth with a distance of 40-0.

Simon Holland was fifth in the pole vault with a mark of 8-6.

Caden Juba had a leap of 17-10 to finish fourth in the long jump.

Blue Earth Area Track Meet

The Blue Earth Area girls finished 18 points ahead of Maple River to take first place at the Blue Earth Area Track Meet held at Wilson Field on Friday, April 24.

The Buccaneers tallied 145 points while Maple River’s second-place total was 127. Lake Crystal-Wellcome Memorial-Nicollet finished third with 110 points, Martin County West/Butterfield Odin was fourth with 87, United South Central/Alden-Conger finished fifth with 78 and Granada-Huntley-East Chain/Truman/Martin Luther was sixth with two.

The Bucs performed well in the relays by winning three of the four races.

The BEA 4×800-meter relay team started off the meet by finishing first with a time of 10:36.12. Aubrey Woodwick ran a strong first leg that had the Bucs in second place behind LCWM-N by about one stride. Emersen Weir took the baton from Woodwick and overtook the next LCWM-N runner in the final 150 meters of the first lap. Ella Swanson was the third Buc to take the baton while Caitlin Eitzmann ran the final leg of the race. In the end, BEA won the race by 26 seconds over LCWM-N.

In the 4×200-meter relay, Breanna Hefner-Roggeman, Grace Nelson, Sydney Eitzmann and Kyannah Brandt turned in a time of 1:56.04 to win the relay by just over two seconds.

The final relay of the meet was also won by the Bucs when Weir, Swanson, Sidney Eitzmann and Caitlin Eitzmann ran the 4×400-meter relay in 4:31.66 to finish in first place by less than one second over LCWM-N.

The 4×100-meter relay team finished in third place with Hefner-Roggeman, Khloe McGowen, Parker Stallman and Nelson completing the race in 56.86.

Hefner-Roggeman finished second and Stallman was third in the 100-meter dash. Hefner-Roggeman had a time of 13.97 while Stallman finished in 14.1.

Brandt won the 200-meter dash with a time of 18.28. Nelson was fourth in 29.65.

Weir finished second in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:06.27 while Swanson placed fourth in 1:08.46.

Woodwick was second in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:42.91.

Madelyn Humburg had a sixth place finish in the 300-meter low hurdles with a time of 59.99.

Taylor Ripley had a toss of 31-10 in the shot put to finish in second place with teammate Ada Ziegler placing fifth with a distance of 28-7.5.

Ripley was third in the discus with a mark of 87-10 while Ziegler’s throw of 85-2 was good for fifth place.

Caitlin Eitzmann won the high jump by clearing the bar at a height of 4-10. Weir place fifth with a height of 4-4.

Stallman got over the bar at 7-0 in the pole vault to place second. McGowen was fifth at a height of 6-0.

It was a first place finish for Brandt in the long jump with a leap of 15-3. Stallman was third with a distance of 13-8.75.

BEA Boys Results

United South Central/Alden-Conger came out on top for the boys with 160 points. Maple River finished second with 149 points, Lake Crystal-Wellcome Memorial-Nicollet was third with 87, Martin County West/Butterfield Odin finished fourth with 64, Blue Earth Area was fifth with 50 and Granada-Huntley-East Chain/Truman/Martin Luther was sixth with 43.

Chase Gambell was the Bucs’ lone champion for the meet with a first-place toss in the shot put of 43-4.5. Omar Gomez was fifth with a distance of 39-2.5 and Dane Sohn was sixth with a mark of 38-7.

Gomez placed sixth in the discus with a throw of 95-2.

Juba had a leap of 16-5 in the long jump to finish in sixth place.

In the 100-meter dash, Juba’s time of 12.42 was good for fifth place.

Simon Holland placed sixth in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:02.68.

Marcus Eckles placed third in both the 110-meter high hurdles and the 300-meter low hurdles. His time in the high hurdles was 16.78 while he finished the low hurdles in 43.35.

The 4×100-meter relay team of Gus Ankeny, Sohn, Hayden Prestegard and Gomez finished second in 50.37.

Eckles, Pablo Ozuna, Prestegard and Juba combined to take second place in the 4×200-meter relay with a time of 1:42.67.

Ben Roper, Camden Murphy, Gus Ankeny and Oliver Ankeny ran to a sixth place finish in the 4×400-meter relay with a time of 4:19.12.

It was a third place finish in the 4×800-meter relay for Oliver Ankeny, Murphy, Roper and Prestegard with a time of 9:57.56.
