BEA’s offense struggles in recent losses

The Blue Area Bucs went on the road to face the Jackson County Central Huskies on Tuesday, April 28. And for the second time this season, the Huskies shut out the Bucs. JCC won last Tuesday’s game 18-0.

JCC got off to a strong start by scoring 11 runs in the bottom of the first inning. The Huskies added four more runs in their half of the second inning and three more in the fourth inning.

The Bucs could manage only two hits off Huskies’ pitching while JCC’s batters had 17 hits during the game.

John Nelson had both of the hits for BEA – a single and a double.

Brody Haugh and Chris Murray handled the pitching duties for the Bucs.

Blue Earth Area vs. Windom

The Blue Earth Area baseball team traveled to Windon on Friday, April 24 for a doubleheader against the Windom Area Eagles.

Windom Area 14, BEA 4

An eight-run fourth inning by the Eagles put the contest out of reach in the opening game of the twin bill.

The Eagles were holding on to a slim 4-2 lead after three and a half innings of play before pulling ahead 12-2 in the bottom of the fourth inning.

The Bucs scored two more runs in the top of the fifth inning to make the score 12-4, but the Eagles tacked on two more runs of their own in the bottom of the fifth to end the game on the ten-run rule.

Myles Moore and Brody Eckmann handled the pitching duties for BEA with Moore being tagged with the loss.

The Bucs had five hits in the game. Two hits came off the bat of Jacob Gambell while Logan Rademaker, John Nelson and Ethan Farnham had one hit each. Those four players each drove in one run.

The Eagles finished the game with 16 hits.

Windom Area 14, BEA 3

The Eagles were the visiting team on the scoreboard for the second game and they wasted no time putting some runs on the scoreboard.

Windom Area tallied three runs in the first inning, four in the second inning and six in the third inning to take a 13-0 lead. Their final run came in the top of the fifth inning.

The Bucs scored their three runs in the bottom of the fourth inning.

With one out, Nelson, Farnham and Bennett Zabel each walked. A hit by Brody Haugh drove in Nelson for one run.

The other two runs came on a wild pitch and a passed ball by the Eagles.

Windom Area outhit BEA 16-3 in the game.

Chris Murray started on the mound for the Bucs and took the loss after pitching three innings. Farnham and Nolan Sturtz each pitched one inning of relief.

St. James Area 13, BEA 2

The Saints were leading 7-2 heading into the bottom of the fourth inning. They added six more runs to their total to take a 13-2 lead and then held Blue Earth Area scoreless in the top of the fifth inning to claim the 13-2 victory. The game was played on Tuesday, April 21, in St. James.

Bennett Zabel and Brody Haugh each pitched two innings for BEA. Zabel gave up four hits while Haugh gave up five. Zabel walked four batters and struck out three. Haugh walked two batters and had two strikeouts.

BEA had three hits – one each by Ethan Farnham, John Nelson and Zabel.

The Saints had a total of nine hits.
