Rebel boys defeat Bucs in close golf meet
It was a close contest, but the United South Central boys golf team defeated Blue Earth Area on May 19 in a nine-hole match played at Oakview Golf Course.
The Rebels’ team score was 182 while the Bucs finished with 187.
BEA’s Cole Becker was the medalist for the meet by one stroke over USC’s Brennan Olson. Becker shot a five-over-par 41 while Olson carded a six-over-par 42.
Other Rebel golfers were Ryder Anderson who finished third after shooting a 46, Colten Husfeldt, Dylan Parks and Octavio Hernandez who each shot a 47 to tie for fourth place. Jaxon Hart shot a 49 to finish in eighth place.
USC Girls Results
The Blue Earth Area girls shot a team score of 233 to defeat United South Central who had a score of 282.
BEA’s Hailey Hanson was the medalist for the meet with a 17-over-par score of 53.
Bella Roberts finished sixth for USC with a 64, Brynlee Olson was eighth with a 68, Caitlin McQueen shot a 74 to finish ninth, Zaylee Pick was 10th with a 76 and Jayleigh Steckelberg finished 11th with an 83.
NRHEG Meet
Lakeside Golf Course in Waseca was the site for a meet hosted by New Richland-Hartland-Ellendale-Geneva on Monday, May 18.
USC Boys Results
Lake Crystal-Wellcome Memorial was the top team for the day with a team score of 307 which was 20 strokes better than Waseca who was the runner-up with a score of 327. Belle Plaine was third with a score of 332, USC was fourth with 348, New Richland-Hartland-Ellendale-Geneva was fifth 366, Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton took sixth with 371, Kenyon-Wanamingo placed seventh with 386 and Randolph finished eighth with 396. Maple River did not field a complete team.
Charlie Gengler of LCWM and Jeffrey Simonson of JWP were co-medalists with each golfer shooting a two-over-par score of 73.
USC’s top golfer for the day was Brennan Olson who finished with an 11-over-par score of 82 to finish in a three-way tie for 10th place.
Olson had four pars on the front nine and a birdie and three pars on the back nine.
Kolt Bullerman and Ryder Anderson each shot an 86 and were part of a group of five golfers who finished tied for 17th place.
Bullerman finished his round with six pars while Anderson recorded a birdie and three pars.
Finishing in a three-way tie for 26th place was Octavio Hernandez with a 94. Hernandez had a birdie and two pars on the day.
Also golfing for the Rebels were Jaxon Hart and Carter Wigern. Hart finished tied for 39th place with a score of 105 and Wigern was 43rd with a score of 108.
USC Girls Results
Waseca and Belle Plaine tied for first place in the girls meet with each team shooting 441. Coming in third was St. Peter with a score of 454, New Richland-Hartland-Ellendale-Geneva finished fourth with 472 and United South Central was fifth with 545. Maple River, Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton and Lake Crystal-Wellcome Memorial did not field complete teams.
Bella Roberts had the top score for the Rebels with a 128 to tie for 25th place. Brynlee Olson finished 28th with a score of 134, Caitlin McQueen shot a 139 to finish in 30th place, Zaylee Pick was 32nd with a 144 and Jayleigh Steckelberg finished 33rd with a score of 157.
Fox Lake Triangular
The United South Central boys golf team shot one of their best scores of the season and defeated Alden-Conger and Martin County West in a triangular meet on Friday, May 15, at Fox Lake Golf Course.
The Rebels had a team score of 161, while Alden-Conger was in second place with 175 and MCW was third with 200.
USC’s Brennan Olson was medalist with a one-under par score of 34, the seventh time he has had medalist honors this season.
Ryder Anderson placed third with a score of 40. Octavio Hernandez carded a 42 good for fifth place, and Jaxon Hart had a 45 and was in 8th place.
Other USC varsity golfers at the meet were Colten Husfeldt who was in ninth place with a 47 and Dylan Park in 11th place with a 48.
USC Girls Golf Team
The USC Rebel girls golf team also competed at the triangular at Fox Lake Golf Course on Friday, May 15.
The USC girls were in third place with a team score of 260. In first place was Alden-Conger with a score of 207, and in second was Martin County West with a score of 216.
Bella Roberts led the USC team with a score of 62, good for 10th place. Caitlin McQueen was in 11th place with a 63, Lucy Woodring was in 12th place with a 66, and Zaylee Pick completed the Rebels’ team score with a 69 and was in 13th place.
The other USC golfer was Jayleigh Steckelberg who shot a 77 and was in 14th place.
